Cyril the squirrel - life or death?

Postby Phil71 » Sat Jun 01, 2019 9:16 pm

A grey squirrel keeps coming into my garden and causing damage.

He’s uprooted flower bulbs, pulled flowers out, digs holes in my lawn and shits everywhere.

So do I get my air rifle out and get rid of him with a well aimed .22 slug to the temple, or put up with it as it’s all part of life’s great circle?

His fate is in your hands.

A mans home is his castle. Cyril knows the risks hes taking when he violates Phil's territory.

Hes been warned enough times now. Live by the flower bulb die by the flower bulb.

@ Phil you sure it's a squirrel? Sounds like fox behaviour although I know squirrels can be little c**** at the best of times.

It’s definitely the squirrel.

I’ve seen him at it.

Aren't there other ways to get rid rather than shoot it? Ie put down predator scent (I'm sure you can buy this from garden centres).

I only say this because it's one squirrel, but more will return eventually. A blanket deterrent might be better as theres always more squirrels to come after that one gets it.

That or get a dog. Squirrel wont f**k with a dog plus the markings they leave in the garden should deter more than just squirrels...

Buy a squirrel trap and catch it. Then release it in the wild.

I've got a dog. A bulky staffy x. He couldn't catch a cold.

That's actually against the law.

If I caught it in a trap I'd have to kill it.

And then move to Appalachia, buy a straw hat, and learn how to play the banjo as you embrace your newfound hillbilly life

I've eaten rabbit many times. Never squirell.

I'm sure it'd be very nice.

Not sure Cyril will give me the 1 ¹/² lbs of meat I need for that recipe though. Might be enough for a sandwich.
