What a sad day.

RIP The Marvelous One.

Fun fact: he was so feared and avoided by other boxers that he only got a title shot after Senator Ted Kennedy threatened to investigate boxing for corruption if they continued to deny him one.

That’s a real shame.

Only 66 years old as well.

Peter Lorimer of Leeds fame 74 years old, said to have had the strongest shot in the game at one time.

Every kid taking a free kick in the playground back then would step up and shout, "Lorimer!"

RIP

Yeah, he was a great player and very humble about it all after he retired. Watching those old goals yesterday, I found the celebrations most interesting, always the same, hands above his head clapping. Just his natural reaction, but from another age.

Frank Worthington.

Terrific player. Played 14 seasons in the top flight and 8 seasons in the lower divisions from 1966 to 1987.

Loved Frank Worthington, he was in the Best, Marsh, Bowles quartet of fabulous, if flawed footballers!

I was reading that Stan Bowles has dementia and has no recollection of his football past. So sad!

Jack Charlton was the same.

His wife said he had no memory of winning the World Cup for some time before his death.

Bobby's going the same way.

Finding Jack Charlton is on BBC2 and iplayer next week. A special feature-length film, Finding Jack Charlton will air on the BBC at the end of March.
It explores the life of an English World Cup-winning legend who became an Irish hero. The film also details Jack’s previously undocumented life with dementia.

Saw a clip and looks good.

RIP Frank the days when footballers were men
And the dementia as seen with the Charlton brothers and others will cost football substantially one day financially, as with other sports with head contact injuries
