Can we have mother as today's track please
Only just found out that he recorded a cover of the John Lennon song for a tribute album that was shelved in 2000
I was aware that it was another song he had considered for pin ups as far back as 1973
I have heard it once
It doesn't have the primal scream of Lennon but it's not a bad cover though once again reeves gabrels treads all over it
I am coming to the end of the project now mate
I will keep an eye out for new stuff
But I don't want to rehash
We have a fantastic archive of Bowie material now
Thanks for being a great help in charting the many and varied faces of an incredible artist
If you or anybody thinks there are glaring omissions then please post

Another horrific night in London
Love on all my gunner colleagues xxx

It was a pleasure. Thank you for your persistance and for providing a gold mine of information on Bowie-related matters - a great way to honor and remember the man and the artist.

If you [or anyone else] comes across something we haven't added yet, don't hesitate and we'll rectify it promptly.

Depech mode covered heroes last night at their gig at the london stadium as part of their encore
They have played it a few times on this tour
Sounds a little bit bloodless
I don't mind the band, interesting career path from their throwaway pop beginnings

Lord buckethead who got 249 votes in Teresa May's constituency of Maidenhead made a video using where are we now as his election bid
Where are we now?

  I'm almost certain DB would have approved of this. What do you reckon?

Just noticed the Depeche Mode post and gave it a listen. Not bad but a tad unobtrusive and no Ronson-esque guitar playing. Think Heroes needs be performed with a good dose of zest and vehemence for it to really work. Bloodless is probably the right word indeed.

I just noticed we haven't done anything of Bowie's 1990 Tokyo performances. Some cracking live versions of Starman and Ashes to Ashes and Rock 'n Roll suicide. Not entirely convinced by Belew's guitar work on RnRS but what an incredible vocal performance! If you like we can later add these songs to breathe some life into the thread every now and then?

That sounds like a good idea mate
I saw him at the now knocked down docklands arena on that tour and my memory's are of sound issues. Looking at clips of the performances though he was on fine form.
Generally I like Adrian belews playing
I think it chimes with the avant garde side of Bowie
Have you watched the rono doc beside Bowie yet?
Some great stuff on there
As for Mr buckethead
I think he would have found it bloody hilarious

Can we have knock on wood from the new released cracked actor album recorded live in la 74
On the Bowie messageboard it is getting high praise
For me he is reaching for the song a bit too much
Maybe it's one you need to see the performance?

Dare I say I always found the original (Eddie Floyd) version to be a tad too measured and unobtrusive for its lyric? Always felt like it drags on a bit too much. Just like the more slightly more polished David Live version I'm finding it difficult to hear something that I do not like about this version mate.

Video definitely can alter the perspective and experience as a whole. Is there any known footage of this particular performance on September 5th? It seems unlikely as I was unable to even find a picture of that particular evening. (The pic below is from the LA Universial Theatre performance of September the 1st.)

I know what you mean
It may be sacrilege but it's not one of my favourite tunes
Being as how it's Glastonbury week can we have his superb opener from 2000 wild is the wind
He owns it
