Hope all well in the lockdown?

Only just read this starman. Had just arranged to move no a new place, then COVID-19 broke out on a global scale which complicated matters a bit. It's been a long week but the move has come to its conclusion. Hope yourself and the family are in good health during these testing times.

Thanks zenith
All good in lockdown thanks
Been watching an awful lot of( God not that again ) old films that I have not actually seen before
Listening to loads of music
Mark Lamar has a Twitter page on which he posts a lot of good stuff
Done a few box sets, been reading a Beatles book but in truth despite all this free time I am finding hard to get past their early years growing up
In truth I am dreading going out in the cab again
I am enjoying being off
It's terrible for those who have lost people and are missing loved ones
FaceTime has proved a godsend having become a grandad in the last 6 months
But for me this is the kind of sabbatical I have always dreamed of
Being at home doing g
f**k all with an excuse to do it
Hope all turns out well for you with the move
What did you think of the diamond dogs outtake?

Really enjoyed this recording session. Love how the absence of the pipe organ, lead guitar and backing vocals doesn't make the song lose any of its feathers.

If my ears serve me properly, you can hear bass guitar, drums, DB's vocals and piano in this recording session.

Huge props to the person who was generous enough to leak the outtake after having bought its bootleg for over £2000. Shall we apply for a job at Olympic Studios? :sneaky2:

Also big congrats on becoming a granddad for the first time. :1970_two_smileys_drinking_beer_together.gif:

Yes zenith
It is generous of them to let it be heard but part of the joy of music is sharing it with people
I almost have a full time job posting and listening to music
I can do it from my phone tee hee
I think you are lucky that I still don't know how to do it on here
I would be driving everyone mad
God I thought I was happy when my own kids were born but God.... A grandchild...... I am chief baby bore
Stay safe.... Love on ya x

Matthew Seligman of The Soft Boys and Thompson Twins has passed away last Friday. He also bass guitar on 'Absolute Beginners' and was part of Bowie's live band at Live Aid in 1985.

Matt is the chap with the black bass guitar and the all navy blue outfit.

RIP

Came across this track
Isn't it evening( the revolutionary)
From earl slicks 2004 solo album zig zag
Written and featuring a lead vocal from bowie
Recorded feb 2003
Its pretty good
Slick always added a bit of dirt to bowie's music
Never really gets the credit of a ronson, alomar or gabriels but was an integeral part of much of his catalogue. Any chance of posting it please zenith?

Hadn't listened to this one before, Starman. Feel it wouldn't have looked out of place on Reality. If not a good addition.

Perhaps Bowie wanted to return the favour and keep this an Earl Slick exclusive?

Funny enough it was recorded during the time of realty and i think its a new one on me
On the excellent pushing ahead of the dame site it says that slick intended to write some incedental music for films. He was fed up with playing blues rock and had pretty much quit music.
Bowie being an early adopter of the internet , looked up to see what slick was up to and more a less invited him self in.
Other people like the cures robert smith had taken an interest so the project changed tack.
Heres to many more discoveries

Dont know how i missed it zenith but our friend nacho has been very busy. There are a couple of things he has posted from the 74 tour. Some footage of Aladdin sane that is the only known of him performing the song on that tour
But what is most exciting is a whole version of can you hear me which is the only full version of anything from the second half of the tour which became known as phillydogs.
The guy does these restorations with such love

Starman do you like any particular covers which other artists have done of Bowie songs?

I think Nirvana's cover of The Man Who Sold The World was superb

Wasn't impressed with Oasis' attempt at Heroes
Corinthians 15:57; But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus

Funny you should say that mate.. i was trawling through some a couple of days ago. I like the purple hearts version of cant help thinking about me...... big country ( of all people) do a good version of cracked actor and i like the last shadow puppets version of in the heat of the morning
For me nirvana man who sold the world is a bit too faithful
.. i love nirvana.... they have an edge.. but i dont see it on this... i dont dislike it... its very good and im glad it exists and deserves its iconic status but it could be that over familiarity that works against it now. There are so many covers of bowie now but a lot are of the same songs. I woud be delighted if people were to point me in the direction of some they find interesting.
It is a bit of a weak spot for me being objective.... but i do give it a try

The Last Shadow Puppets covered Moonage Daydream extensively on their 2016 tour:

I really like it, although might not be as appreciated by you older school folks ;)
