Thanks zenith
Can we have space oddity from the 1970 Ivor Novello awards as today's track please
Although it's listed as 1969
That was because it was awarding songs from that year
The actual performance was on 10th may 1970 at the talk of the town
Get the shirt and the flares and playing with such a staid orchestra
It has that Suburban boy done good feel about it and one hundred 1000 miles away from the future ziggy.

Considering they're not in the picture visually, is there any information on whether the Les Reed Orchestra were playing live themselves, or whether it's a ''live-on-air'' recording with Bowie adding live guitar and vocals? He almost looks shy, maybe mildly overwhelmed by the occasion - you get the idea he would have wanted to band to be right there with him as a unit. You summed it up perfectly, it's a low-key, modest but a charming version nonetheless.

Thanks mate
I don't know
Tom Jones was top of the shop at the time and Les reed was writing for him
I think Bowie had it in his mind somewhere to be all round entertainer but had far too much in the pot to be that middle of the road
He did look nervous and slightly out of place
That was ultimately what drove him to what he became
Never truly lost the populism but packaged it his way
Thank god

Can we have the wild things from the labyrinth soundtrack as today's track please
For copyright reasons the song became chilly down and was sung by others but being as how it's the 1st song he recorded for the film at abbey road studios it has a real energy to it

Can we have width of a circle from Tampa 1974 as today's track please
Whilst on the tour of North America an articulated lorry carrying the elaborate set and costumes ended up overturned in a ditch 15 miles short of the Curtis hixon hall after the driver was stung by a bee.
Of the 73 shows on the tour this was the most stripped down
Not wishing to disappoint the 7 dollar 50 a head crowd
Bowie appeared on stage 2 hours late in a yellow suit and absolutely stormed it
Even performing (I believe) the only encore of the tour

Ronson's solo on this track is incredible and whilst it's not as elaborate as during the Hammersith Odeon performance, it's right up there with one of the best I've heard of his. :yum:

Thanks zenith but earl slick must get his dues
It was him who played on the 74 tour
Ronson was off pursuing a solo career
Slicks guitar playing, in fact the whole band are fantastic on today's track
Also from that 74 tour but this time from la
Can we have nacho's fantastic edit of sweet thing/candidate/ sweet thing reprise please
Sleezy, soulful( even goes a bit pub singer at one stage) but another reminder of why I love Bowie
Edgy, lonely it's a suite of music wrapped up in just over 8 mins
Marvellous

You're right, my bad... didn't notice the date which of course was a year after the last spiders performance. Anyway, Bowie seemed to have a knack of picking some of the finest guitarists out there to play with him and Slick for me is right up there.

Can we have lady stardust as todays track please
At the beginning of the year Mr Sussex did an edit that mixed a 1972 BBC radio session with either John peel or Bob Harris with footage from his rainbow show and other bits of ziggy
It's a fine piece of work
