Happy birthday to The Thin White Duke.
One of Bowie's best songs to be added to a reissue after initially being omitted, starman?

I think we covered this when we was doing the odyssey
A ziggy outtake that was on the cd release in 1990
A real rocker but the lyrics regarding oral sex was probably considered a bit too strong
There are a few tracks that have found there way out since we finished
Probably be asking your help soon if that’s ok

That was a great find( that Kurt cobain in the t-shirt)
Can we have sweet head as today's track please
When I brought the cd release of ziggy stardust in 1990 it was a total surprise to find this outtake on it
I was unaware it existed( then again even producer ken Scott had forgotten it) I was buying a lot of bootlegs at the time and it never turned up on any of them
How about this for a day in the studio
11th nov 1971
He recorded final takes of ziggy stardust, star, velvet goldmine and sweet head
A nasty song that contains racism violent references to the just released clockwork orange and also oral sex
When I say nasty I mean in tone rather than my opinion
If you can take away the lyrical content you have an absolute scorching rocker that the album could have been built around
The fact that it was dropped for it ain't easy( an ok but serviceable cover is a bit of a shame)
I think rca leaned on a bit and bowie didn't love the song enough to fight its corner.

Chris Hadfield discusses his cover of Space Oddity performed on the ISS, his conversations with Bowie, and his reflections on Bowie's death. First three minutes of the video.
Chris is an amazing man. I've read his autobiography and it's one of the best books I've ever read.
