It is reaching a point in the US where no pharmaceutical company wants to be associated with producing drugs used in executions.

I read an interesting article the other day about a possible alternative. The air we breathe is primarily made up of two elements; - oxygen and nitrogen. If we breathe a mix of air that has not enough oxygen, it would cause us to pass out. Reduce the oxygens levels further and we die -whilst still unconscious.

The idea is to place the inmate in a sealed chamber, and gradually change the oxygen:nitrogen mix until they die.

That would surely be classed as torture or "cruel and unusual" to suffocate someone. Isn't that why some states I heard were bringing back the old firing squad?

Apparently it's completely pain-free.

Pilots have to train for such an event happening in mid-air, because the symptoms of gradual oxygen deprivation are so insidious. It apparently doesn't cause discomfort or pain, but often has symptoms such as fatigue, confusion, euphoria, inability to concentrate etc. Pilots describe the early symptoms as feeling weird. That's why they are asked to experience it, so that if it occurs in a real life situation, they know what it is, and can take appropriate action before they become unconscious.

ENGLAND’S triumphant return from the 2018 World Cup in Russia will be marked in a more unusual way in the UK capital, with one of London’s Tube stations being renamed after Gareth Southgate.

How fooking sad is the UK, England just about beat a load of pubbers went out to a half decent side and now they are all heroes, unbelievable-pathetic.
When it comes to celebrating failure England is definitely the winner.
