Not to get into a debate about Brexit, but the lack of workers in haulage, care home, NHS etc show how we have deskilled the British workers by bringing in cheap labour. I've heard the haulage representatives talking on the radio, many excuses coming out, one being that it is our fault, the consumer, by wanting goods on demand, 7 days a week. I never asked for Sunday opening, or retail shops to never stock the goods I want so I am forced to shop online and get it devlivered. They've benefited from cheap labour, now they might have to pay a bit more. The consumer will have to pay more, can't dent into their profits. Absolutely. John Lewis recently gave all of their lorry drivers a pay rise and a £1000 bonus - and offered a £1000 signing fee for any new drivers.
Shortage of workforce is always good for the workers.
