Two states here in the US have and are trying to pass laws that make it legal to discriminate against people based on religious beliefs (I believe 19 other states already have this law). This really just means they want the right to say no to gay people if they own a business, or so they don't get in trouble if they publicly discriminate against gays. Cause you know all those so called Christians in the south of the US here love them some Jesus and still think that gays are an "abomination", but funnily enough according to statistics they are the ones that look up gay porn the most. SMH!!!

Way to take the world back a few centuries you idiots.

This law has a far more dangerous slippery slope. Imagine going to a shop that won't sell contraceptives or the morning after pill to women because 'that's not how God intended it to be'

^ Good point.

Hopefully the laws never come to fruition, you'd have to think those with common sense and basic human decency will outnumber the Bible bashing inbreds in the vote...then again, it is America we are talking about.

I never quite understood what people had against gays, minorities, religions etc.
Everyone should be free to belive whatever they wish (be it in sacred Egyptian cats and dogs, Christianism, Judaism, Islam, Scientology, Budism, Hinduism or their backyard frog) and live their life in whatever way they choose (being gay, living without getting married, celebrating christmas, getting an abortion or something similar) - unless it intereferes with other peoples lives or they try to force it down someones throat.
My personal philosophy has always been - if something / someone doesn't prevent me to be happy, I shouldn't prevent "them".

Do what you want as long as it's not to the detriment of others.

The only views which can not be tolerated are those which promote intolerance.

In America, when it comes to the bible and Jesus, these idiots happily throw human decency, common sense, logic and reason straight out the window. :dizzy:

Right and that is the whole problem. We all know how evil lawyers work, it can open up so many other types of discrimination all because someone might hold a certain belief about it. And we all know you can just make up any type of belief system you want.

If your constitution allows one person to use their rights to limit the rights of others, then you'll have truly learned nothing as a country from slavery and segregation.

there's clearly a balance between infringing on the rights of one person to establish the rights of another, don't make it sound black and white.

a truly religious person who is 100% committed to what they believe the bible is telling them should not be forced to do something against their will to liberate every gay person in the world. Take the recent example of the shop that wouldn't create a cake for a homosexual mayor in Ireland for example, they should not be sued for refusing to make the cake when it is against their religious beliefs, especially when there are a million other places the cake can be purchased from and will cause the buyer no problem at all.

I'm aware there are gay people on this forum and they may not agree with what I am saying but that doesn't make it wrong, people with contrasting beliefs and opinions have to learn to live and work together in society and I think a lot of people from both sides lose sight of this, especially when they feel wronged. It is not possible for every person to have what they want 100% of the time, compromise is rife in all our lives and will always have to be the case in all racial issues, sexuality issues and gender equality issues.

You also can't deny people's beliefs just because a minority may take advantage of it, the exact same could happen the other way around anyway, some people will take advantage of any situation they can.
