What a moron.

He did it with the help of the Ukraine police though. It wasn't his idea

Reasons why

Very odd.

Even if they were trying to catch criminals, this seems an extraordinarily OTT way of doing it.

I guess it shows how culturally different we are from that part of the world. That sort of thing would never be allowed here.

So Trump releases a woman from prison who was serving a whole life (no chance of parole - ever!!) sentence for non-violent drug offences.

It's baffling as to why people are getting sentenced to whole life in prison for non violent crimes.

I agree with your point but there definitely are some non violent crimes which can deserve life in prison

Fraud, for example.

Really? Whole life without the possibility of parole?

Same with murder, it depends on the circumstance.

If it's just a little bit of fraud, then no. But if it's fraud based on stealing millions from a pension fund that ends up costing thousands of people their retirement, then f**k them, lock them up and throw away the key.

The point of whole life sentences should be to protect the public.

I’m not sure it’s right to use them for people who we are just really annoyed with.

But that would be protecting the public. People like that are harmful and just because they aren't outright murdering people in cold blood doesn't make whay they did any better.

I think there should be longer sentences for some, probably most crimes, but the use of whole life tariffs should be for murder only.

Anthony Bordain committed suicide. :(

Love his shows. Always shocking to see rich/famous people do this.

His death is the first celebrity death since Robin Williams that's actually hit me.

I ate at Les Halles in Manhattan when I lived there because of Bourdain, watched his shows all the way from the beginning with A Cook's Tour, and read a couple of his books.

He felt less like a television personality/celebrity chef and more like a friend you were traveling with.

I know he was battling his demons for a while, and it looks like they won :crybaby:

RIP to a good dude.
