When my dog gets up at the front window the delivery guys can’t wait to get rid of the parcel and get off my drive.

Dear god

Dogs can protect you if shit ever kicks off.

They are the first line of defense for your home, always on point night and day (if you have a proper dog).

Who chooses a cat over a dog?

Some of us don't need protecting.

I have a house full of weapons for that scenario.

This

Who buys a pet for protection?

You buy it for affection, companionship etc

Not to pick up its shit everyday

It's not just about protection though, they can alert you if you're asleep and someone is prowling, without dogs you'd be caught off guard.

They're also a deterrent, if someone is thinking about breaking into your home they will probably fvck off quite quickly when they hear a loud bark/see what's waiting for them inside.

Meanwhile cats will be licking their paws as the intruder enters and you're fast asleep.

My cat stands up and says ........... "Oi do something" lol

Don't know how rough Seattle is but if I was in South Africa I'd agree, but I don't live in a war zone and my house is 1st floor, you need to go through my front door and up a flight of stairs.

I'm not on the ground floor.

If your dog doesn't stink and the delivery guys fear it, it's most likely a cat maybe you should check it again

My mum's cat is a psychopath

The burglar will pick up the cute kitty for a quick cuddle and end up with no eyes

Dogs can be trained to do anything, even be service animals to help disabled people.

Even stuff like reacting to emotional states/anxiety attacks and offering emotional support. Cats just don't care.

Also cats usually don't smell that bad but if you have them living inside then they have litter boxes that reek of piss and shit. Dogs are smart enough to do that outside.

Bottom line is dogs are companions, cats are leeches.

I'm actually laughing here, I've had cats for years, cats clean themselves and their smaller bodies mean they produce less odour.

How do you work out that a cat stinks more than a dog, unreal.

Cats can get smelly when they get old and gammy and stop cleaning themselves

One of mine is 17-18 and has had thyroid problems for a while and hasn't bothered to wash himself for ages. He stinks

Firstly cat litter trays don't stink if you use Wood chip litter, it dissolves and absorbs it along with the smell .......... its all about know how.

Also what do you mean "dogs are smart enough to go outside" do you think cats don't?

Dogs are amazing in their assistance to mankind there is no doubt but they are a different species and a working pack animal, cats are not, you comparing a dog to a cat is like me blaming a horse for not being able to climb a tree.

So what do cats do for mankind? companionship, what about the elderly who can't walk dogs or take care of a demanding animal? cats sit with you, keep you company, are very affectionate.

My cat follows me everywhere around the house, even when I kick her out of my room.

Blimey, this thread escalated! I was brought up with cats and even inherited my MIL’s cats in my 30’s, one male and on female. The male one was ace and almost behaved like a dog following me around etc. The female...just a horrible cat!

I always wanted a dog and it wasn’t until au was 45 that I was able to hav one and it’s been fantastic! He goes everywhere with me, like on the golf course where he is perfectly behaved before I tell him to go and he’s off looking for squirrels and rabbits and then straight back to my side. I think he even loves bacon more than me too! He’s always around me in th house and just wants to be where I am. No animal like them, certainly not a cat!
