Never heard of that. Can it lead to needing a replacement?

Me neither, it’s a build up of calcium crystals in the joint from previous trauma and all I did was turn in the kitchen causing a slight tweak. Next day I couldn’t walk! A knee replacement is a last ditch process if the knee is still in reasonable condition. Still very sore though.

Sounds like gout

That’s why they call it pseudogout….because it’s similar symptoms but not gout. Like having glass fragments in your knee!

Terribly unsexy
Spent ages hobbling about until I went on alipurinol
Only get a twinge now when I drink something to acidy too much like cider or desperadoes

Does it give you an urge to behead the missus and eat a whole pig?

Only had the two wives so far so I have a lot of catching up to do
Do love a bit of pork though

Allopurinol is like a magic drug for gout. I used to have gout but have been on it for about twenty years. Gout is a nasty one for sure. Nuts were really bad for me back then. I once drove 500 miles to fish a certain river and forgot my meds. It ruined the trip for me and I suffered for three days until I found a doc who would prescribe a weeks worth.

Plantar fasciitis as well. That I got because I went barefoot a lot for years in the summer. Injections of cortisone do the trick as well as proper support.

I had an uncle who used to get gout so bad he couldn’t put a sheet on it. Mine was only ever so bad that I couldn’t put pressure on it and my feet would swell like trotters
We went to Bognor once as a family and I spent a lot of time crawling round the chalet
I was reluctant to go on meds permanently but once I had it was such a relief
Naproxen is great for taking away the initial pain and swelling
Old age is definitely not for sissies!

The other evening we met up with some friends and must have spent half of it talking about our ailments. Its the new big subject when you reach 60. :crybaby:

Other big subjects from the past, sex, pushchairs, house prices.
