Fitness Thread

Postby absolutely_fabregas » Wed Apr 01, 2009 12:58 pm

Just thought i would make a thread here, about good routines, workouts that you do at gym etc etc

and to bounce ideas off each other

I will start by asking a question though, traps... whats the best way to work them? i've been down shrugs a lot, what else works?

when you do them, do you pull it down in front or behind your head? i take it its better for traps if you pull down behind?

I do dumbell shrugs for traps.
I always make sure my chin is on my chest when i do them.
Occasionally i'll do them seated, as it doesn't allow you to cheat so much.
Wide grip upright rows also work traps quite well, although i rarely do them.

And i always train traps with back, not shoulders.

I aways do them to the front.
I don't do any "behind the neck" pulls or presses as you're just asking to wreck your shoulders.

I think you're referring to lat-pulldowns, an upright row is when you lift a weight up to your chin, and back, I generally do it with a barbell, it can be done with dumbells, resistance bands, or cable machines as well

Boxing is my way of keeping fit when i'm not playing football.

Weights for about 45 minutes, i'm f***ked if I know what they're all called though, then 45 on the punch bag or with some idiot holding pads.

Then i'm usually blowing out my ass, so I recover with a curry and a few beers.

I agree mate.
I normally have a session on the heavy bag at least once a week.
For no where near 45 mins though......

I've got girly wrists mate, I think they'd snap on a heavy bag haha!

I use one of the speed trainers, it's like a torso + head on a solid stand, you can number the quadrants and have people call out combinations of numbers, that works quite well. End up sweating like a right c***.

Anyone else use the menshealth workout generator?

http://www.menshealth.co.uk/base/workoutgenerator

I take a lot of tips from there, though I don't follow their entire workout routines to the letter.

ah, yep i was, im not sure on all the terminology

yeah i do that i use the E-Z bar, with 10s on, so maybe i will just do more of them then, my traps look good when tensing lol, but i would rather them bigger so they look good without tensing
