Fabianski going on loan

Haha, yeah Sammy I'm sure you can find some from Almunia. I recall a couple games against Barca where he had people on here thinking he was David Seaman.

Perhaps I'm a bit harsh on our keepers being one myself, but I honestly have come away from at least a half dozen matches this year thinking our keeper clearly wasn't the best on the pitch. I see the other keeper do more work most days though.

But games like Swans, what exactly did Szczesney do at all that match. He even have a save? Mandanda embarrassed him both matches. Pantelemon even looked better on the day than what I've seen from our keepers in a long time.
This space used to be more fun...

Yeah, and its like you said, we do tend to take more shots which adds to the other keeper's credit (especially since most of our players don't know how to find the back of the net  ).

Saving penalties does not impress me one iota. Penalties are not saved because of any skill on the part of the keeper, they're saved because of a lucky guess on direction and/or a poor penalty from the taker. Keepers just pick a side, dive, and hope it hits them.

I properly taken penalty is 100% unsaveable no matter the keeper.

I think you're taking away a lot of credit from keepers which is strange with you being one yourself.

I'm pretty sure Matt Glennon went on a run of saving about 10-15 penalties in a row, including 3 in one game (I have a feeling it may of been 4 but one had to be retaken and got saved again  ).

I agree you must have the luck on your side but some keepers really are penalty specialists (even though their all round game may not be so good).

Whilst I dont agree with this move I can see Wengers sense in it.
Flappy needs games to improve and iron out his nervous-ness and stupid mistakes. Think back to the last time he played for us (cant remember who but had to come off injured eventually) he has a f***ing nightmare, made an arse of a situation and cost us a goal.

When he was getting a run in the team last year a year or so ago he really was looking fantastic however with Shez being in good form he'll never get near the team right now. Shez has pulled off some unbelivable point blank saves this season and on several occassions has kept us in it. Equally though hes had a few howlers and has been victim to a fair few wonder strikes.

I know I'd rather have Shez behind our defence this season compared to Flappy.

Reading some posts I can tell some people don't know what the feck they are talking about when deluding themselves Fabi is as good as Chesney.
You don't have a clue so it's best to blabber on about some other subject you have no idea about.

Who saw Manuel Neur's mistake (i.e. failed clearance) today that cost his team a goal. Another example of how even the best keeper's can make mistakes.

Show the spoiler
The game ended Bayern Munich - 1, Monchengladbach - 3 (In case anyone wanted to know).

Saw it last night. Played straight to Reus. But like you I think keepers, even the highly rated ones are prone to the odd gaffe. It's how they respond that tells me whether they've got the cajones or not.

On the other hand if i were to take the opposite view my response should be:

How the feck he can be rated so highly is beyond me?!?!?! I mean, his mistake caused a goal. He's too young to be given that role as #1. If they brought in someone more experienced this wouldn't have happened. Ooobbviously Neuer must therefore be cr*p....
