Fabianski - I’m fighting hard for my place

Lukasz Fabianski intends to fight Wojciech Szczesny every step of the way for a first-team spot this season.

The elder of Arsenal's two Polish keepers earned a run in the side in 2010/11 but the shoulder injury he suffered in January gave Szczesny a chance to stake his claim for the No 1 role.

The 21-year-old did enough to keep his place when Fabianski returned to fitness in pre-season and Szczesny's strong start to the new campaign has kept Fabianski on the bench for now.

The Polish duo plus Italian keeper Vito Mannone enjoy a healthy rivalry and Fabianski intends to win his place back soon.

"I am fighting hard, really hard," he told Arsenal Player. "Since we came back from Germany I can say I have been fully fit. Now I am ready to play.

"It has been a difficult time for me because I was No 1 last year and I lost it due to my injury. Now I am fit again but Wojciech is doing well.

"Of course I am not happy with my position because I want to be No 1 but I have to accept it and fight for it. I am fighting really hard to get where I was before."

He won our player of the season last year and looked good pre season, I don't doubt that he can push Szczesny hard. It is good to finally have a positive goalie dilemma, lol.

Yep, unfortunately for him, when he started to show signs that he put the mistakes behind him he got injured. Tough luck, but thats life.

Hopefully he will get a few cup games. There was a point last season he was bang on for our number 1 until he got injured.

So for all the press and fans of other teams that think we badly need a goalkeeper, i say balls.

Funny how last season the press were slaughtering Wenger for not buying a GK, which I guess was fair enough when Manuel and Fabianski were regulary dropping howlers, but there has been remarkably little recognition of the emergence Szczesny. I think the hacks should be made to eat their words far more than they are.

Fab should look to leave. Had his chance and got injured. Cefewfrezx came in and was brilliant so lost his place. It makes it more awkward they are the same nationality. He's come on well, good luck to the guy - he wont be there this time next year though unless something big happens and he is number 1.

Fabianski won't leave, he isn't that good he'd slot into to any other team. He's a brilliant back up, kinda like Cudicini is at Spurs and Sorensen is at Stoke.

Sorenson has been a first choice keeper for the best part of the last 15 years lol. Cudicini didn't exactly do bad at Chelsea either. Really bad examples!

Why not go with someone like Ian Bennett or Tony Bullock

Sorenson isn't now though and neither is Cudicini, they are both quality keepers that are second choice well Cudicini's probably third choice now.

They are both old, Fabi isn't.

Defo good enough to be number 1 but i agree with Yorky. Should leave.
