I think you have to be balanced in these situations.
Up until today he was on an upward curve of confidence and performance. He made an error today but it wasn't anywhere near as bad as his previous ones so I don't expect him to sink back down to 'Flappianski' levels.
He needs even more games and even more solid performances under his belt before his confidence can be really concrete.
Hopefully that'll happen.

I'm with Inch, he just needs more games. The mistakes now are few and far between. More importantly, we're seeing a difference in his attitude. He's aggressive, and that shows his confidence. It also shows that he now believes he has a place in the team.

Let's hope Almunia's elbow injury hasn't magically healed all of a sudden!

So this is flappy watch. I don't really know what to make of him right now but I'd still have him over Almunia

Today he wasn't really helped by the defence, Carrol ditched his marker and Flappy wasn't to know that it would be a fairly tame header otherwise I expect he'd have stayed on his line.

On the other hand once he comes for it he takes on all reponsiblity and in this case he lost us the game

Seen keepers do what we did every week even seen VDV and Cech miss them, just doesnt seem to end up in the back of the net though...

Why wasnt there anyone on the posts?

Flappy could have done better, but he must of thought it would have been a routine catch, his problem is that he isnt a tall strong keeper, so dealing with crosses would be harder for him if he is challenged

Does it really matter if he concedes 1 goal. Why is no one concerned in the fact our attack couldn't put 1 single goal past Newcastle at the Emirates???

Their keeper played the game of his life, we had so many good chances saved and they had like 1 shot on goal

Not trying to disprove the last bit, trying to back up the bit about VDS(*) and Cech missing them. I missed the goal, but from what I heard it was fairly similar to that goal.
