I still think we have enough quality to get a result - especially if Vermaelen is back and Cesc is at least on the bench.

Wenger said Vermaelen definitely won't be back

In that case it doesn't matter who is in goal.

Vermaelen isn't that good mate.

Obviously a first choice defensive partnership would include him, but I still think Squillaci and Koscielny have a good partnership going here.

For Fabianski, I think he's always had the ability. Obviously he plays to a decent standard in training, otherwise no one would keep faith in him, and it's just been translating that into decent performances on the pitch. I hope that Tuesday will prove to be the turning point in Fabianski's career, rather than just a false dawn.

I understand the arguments that two good games won't mean he's destined to be our number 1 for years to come, but if he could do it against Chelsea and Drogba, he can do it against anyone.

And thus emkay sealed our faith. 6 goals for the chavs, 4 of them flappy howlers..

He hasn't had 30 bad games for us, he has had about 10, i remember back when he first joined he was quite popular, especially after the Wigan game when he made that double save from Zaki.

The FA Cup game against Chelsea is what done him up like a kipper, ever since then till yesterday he has been a nervous wreck.

That game was the catalyst for his form since, if he can go back against Chelsea and beat his demons then it could be very good for him and for us.

He's only had about 30 starts... so even if it is just 10 bad starts, that's 1/3 of his total matches.

Not a very good ratio.
This space used to be more fun...

Chelsea usually do not create that mush against us.. Even the 2 games they beat us last season they scored 5 goals maybe from 5 shots.. If our defense can keep it a bit tighter than usual we do have a chance..

See the thing is Q8 is that most teams are like that.

For us, it takes 5-10 chances for a goal, any other team only needs one chance to knock you on your arse.

No killer instinct, no conviction.

I do love the knee jerk and fickle reactions from alot of gooners. fabianski was on everyones hate list, with him in goal were are going to lose "8-0 to chelsea", one good game later (just one week after almost costing us a match against the scum) and suddenly it's "oh give him a chance, he's young, this will kick start him, he could be quality".

the geezers shite and it'll take A LOT more quality performances with no more cock ups for him to make up for his last few years and start to prove he may well cut it.
im still backing that it won't be long before he cocks up again and everyone is back to 'he's shit sell him'.

Ligament damage? Almunia's out for a few weeks then. This is win win for everyone in Wenger's eyes. Flappy gets a run of games, Szczesny gets his spot on the bench "challenging".

A clean sheet against Chavscum and Flappy will be the next Buffon... until next week at least

Fabianski's mother taught Buffon everything he knows....While she was pregnant with him...True story.

Oh so he's only cost us 10 games. That's alright then. Diaby has been useless for 93 out of 97 games so he has a long way to go before he's considered utter poo.
