I'm with GG on this. He was no Messi but he's a compact squad player who was decent for us.

If he could have pulled his head from his arse, he had all the skills required to be a decent DM - save that whole desire-to-do-it thing.

He has some pace, has ball skills, can distribute, and when he bothered to tackle he was quite good at it. Problem again was - when he could be bothered. Too often he stood still and left the dirty work to others. Of course his playing time came when Flamini left after coming off a season where he covered every blade of grass - a stark difference was noticed.

Weren't some of the biggest clubs in Europe after him prior to his fall from grace?
