He's been shit all season and all last season playing in his favoured position. Now it's just more pronounced.
He didn't play in his position last season either.
Enlighten us then please Inch, just where exactly is his best position?
He has played centrally with Cesc with Song behind them and he was crap, he has played DM and he has been crap.
He is a midfielder, so where else is there to play him?
As I said before he's an attacking midfielder who's been dragged into the DM position against his will by Lord Wenger.
Last season with the departure of Flamini he was thrown in at the deep end and started every game there because the boss "..believed he can do it."
First of all he looked lost which is hardly a surprise but he then improved.
This season he's still being played as a DM and has hardly had the chance to play with Song behind him. It's usually either Song as DM or him.
By the way, someone had a rant the other day (it may have been you) about the whole DM/AM thing and what's the point of asking a player only to do one job etc etc?
The point of having a dedicated DM rather than 2 or 3 'all purpose' midfielders is that with someone protecting the back four, our talented AMs feel secure enough to roam forward and make dangerous runs into the box knowing that if they get tackled the DM will be there to clean up the mess.
I still believe that if we'd bought a DM after Flamini left then Denilson would've been given the kind of freedom to roam forward that our other AMs get and consequently he'd now be serious competition with the likes of Ramsey and Diaby, quite possibly better than them by now.
As I said in the other Denilson-bashing thread the man has scored 5 goals in 15 appearances which for someone who's supposed to be crap, is pretty impressive, and it only goes to support my argument that he's an AM.
