Doesn't matter if you can beat the keeper if you can't beat a defender, don't know when to make a run and can't pass... Never in the right position, never get the chance to beat the keeper.

And who cares if he's great at 1v1's most goals come from other means.

so what about hernandez?

I stil think vela isn't used in the right way by wenger. he never really had a chance. and when he played as striker he scored many times.

I always thought Vela would be quality, but he hasn't kicked on really, personally, i think its down to bad management, he and Hernandez are very similar players, at one point Vela was streets ahead, and look now...

Its one reason why i think that AW needs to go.

How is he doing at Sociedad? I read somewhere that he is looking to make the deal permanent at the end of the season. Would be best for all the parties involved, tbf. Doesn't look like he'll get a chance at Arsenal for whatever reasons.

He's been quoted as saying he wants to make the move permanent because he's enjoying himself in Spain, doesn't enjoy life at Arsenal, and doesn't want to come back.

I'd like to think he's still young enough to become a good player - it just wont be for us.

That's pure speculation. It's like saying Wenger messed up Merida because he was extremely similar to Fabregas at the same age. You don't know Vela's mentality or his willingness to muck in and work hard on improving. It's common for wonderkids to not step up to the next level when required and it's daft to suggest a manager 'needs to go' because a player didn't reach potential we once thought he had. You can blame Wenger, or just accept you (and the rest of us who thought he was special) were wrong. He can be added to the list of could have beens along with Merida, Bentley, Pennant etc.
