I don't know much about them. Are they world class players?

There would be certain risk involved in any signing, doesn't matter where they come from.

Torres - says it all.

Not to mention Carroll.
Most Prem players are ludicrously overpriced unless you get lucky and pick up a bargain from Wigan but clubs don't want to sell to their rivals and as soon as they find out AFC are interested the price will treble.

I don't have a problem with going elsewhere. It's riskier but I don't think we have much choice, plus the risk has paid off many many times in the past.

It will be an average summer unless we keep RvP, if Van Persie had signed a new deal and we had signed these players, then i doubt even UFGN would have had a bad word to say.

But there is always a catch when Wenger spends money.

Think about it like this.

Giroud, Podolski and Cazorla - £40m
Sahin - Loan

RvP - £20m
Squillaci - £1m
Arshavin - £5m
Bendtner - £5m
Vela - £4m
Park - £1m

= Profit.

Sorry, am I missing something here or is that not a profit?
£40m spent and £36m earned is a loss in my book.

I think we'd get more for Arsh and Bendtner though so it probably would be a profit.

Thought it was me for a minute.

Fair point though we could easily make a profit, especially if we sell Chamakh. That sort of takes the shine off of the 'big' spending spree doesn't it.

Having said that if you look at it on a very basic level, dead wood out + quality players in can never be a bad thing.
Quality in depth is what we've been crying out for of late.

Did you really expect it to be over quickly? Honestly?

I mean there's really no reason to think it would be, after Nasri wanted out all summer he ended up playing for us before he left... and Cesc dragged out for about 3 years.

Yeah I can relate to that. I've just come to expect it now, so I just try to ignore it and I'll check in to see the results at the end of Aug.

Why aren't PSG interested in him? Play RvP and Ibra up front, that would be lethal.

IMO RvP should think again before leaving to Juve as their coach is banned for 15 months for some match fixing allegations. And Twice for Manchester clubs coz after signing of Santi and Sahin (on year loan) Arsenal can give a very strong fight to any of the big clubs in Europe. And he can win some trophies with us by giving his contribution.
