I've been thinking lately about the numerous records Van Persie has broken this season and the significance of his goalscoring attributes, and it lead me to his future at the club and where he could end up in the legend stakes.
It makes me also think where Van Persie would be if he hadn't had so many injuries. Personally, i think that if he stays, and performs at this level for a few more seasons, he could potentially become our all time top goalscorer. If you think about it rationally then a 30 goal average over the next 3 seasons is not beyond the realms of possibility, is it? Providing he stays fit?
He'll go into our top 5 goalscorers next season with ease in my opinion, and i believe he'll have Wrights record in the bag before long, providing he stays of course.
Then after that, who knows? His game is based on technique, not speed, and you never lose technique, so how long could he be up there? 7 years at least?
I've always had a thought that when leading the line becomes too much for RvP, dropping him deeper would still be hugely effective, it would be effective now, but when he is older, and wiser
We need to keep him at all costs, and we need to keep him fit as well.
