Aussie Final: Fed vs Nadal Live right now, BBC2 or Eurosport.

I think this'll be another hot one...

1 set each, and very little in it so far.

I'll wager this one goes to five sets, and right down to the wire. I wouldn't fancy trying to pick a winner though!

Nadal was brilliant today, you've got to tip your fedora/beret/cap/beanie to him. To be able to play at such an intensely brilliant level for 10 hours in the last 48 hours is remarkable. I wanted Rafa to win but his comment at the end was class.

"Just remember you're a great champion and you're one of the best in history and for sure you're going to match Sampras."

I know it's easy to be magnanimous in victory, but it still struck me as a classy thing to say, and I think the guy gets unfair press as being an arse scratching glum looking c***.

As for Federer, he clearly has a mental block regards Nadal now, and I'm not sure he can come back from this. He was all over the place at times and was clearly riled by the entire thing and the tears at the end showed that.

I can't see Federer beating Nadal again, certainly not in a final. It was the same when McEnroe beat Borg in the Wimbledon final of 1981, I think that Borg retired shortly after that.

I think it was Mats Wilander that observed in the match that Federer was the better tennis player but, Nadal was the greater competitor.

As for Fed matching Samp's 14 titles, well that's a rapidly diminishing prospect now that you see that Nadal is the Clay King, King of the Wombles and now The Wizard of Oz.
There's only the US Open to go for... and you wouldn't bet he'd beat Nadal to that.

Sad for Roger... :crybaby:

But Nadal was quite impressive, once again!!

Wilander resume it very well: Roger is the best technically, but he was, once again, beaten by a player who is better than him on the mental and physical sides!! :hail:

And,moreover,Nadal does not cease improving: he's always in search for perfection in his volley, his defence, his serve, his speed on the court...I hope Roger will beat the Sampras record, but I have to admit that Rafa is the best for now!! :hail:
