The Ryder cup

Postby Fabrestuta » Sun Aug 31, 2008 11:36 pm

There seems to be a bit of an uproar because Faldo picked Paul Casey and Ian Poulter for his captains picks, Casey not so much, but its Poulter who people are pissed off about. Personally I think that although he wears pink trousers he's a die hard Gooner so he should play.

Anyway, do we have a team that can beat the Americans at home?

I never really watch golf but i have been bang into everybodys golf on my PS3 (am playing it now as it goes) so i may give it a watch in real life.

Are commentators usually as witty and amusing as cricket commentators as i guess they must be needed to add excitement sometimes?

I will never forget watching this French golfer pull up his trousers and wade into a lake to try and play is shot from under water on the last hole of a tournament in which he had led for most of it. It was an unbelievable show of desperation, i felt for him.

Oh and yes, if he is a gooner then let him play.

Yep golf commentators are often quite witty, well the European ones (no offence to our American friends) David Feherty is a fooking hoot.

I think the player you are remembering is Jean van der Velde, he had a 2 or 3 stroke lead on the 18th hole of the British open and completely lost the plot. He should have taken a drop instead of going into the water with his trousers rolled up but.......well no but, it was just a stupid decision.

2008 European Ryder Cup team
Padraig Harrington (Ire)
Lee Westwood (Eng)
Sergio Garcia (Spa)
Henrik Stenson (Swe)
Robert Karlsson (Swe)
Miguel Angel Jimenez (Spa)
Graeme McDowell (NIre)
Justin Rose (Eng)
Soren Hansen (Den)
Oliver Wilson (Eng)
Ian Poulter (Eng)
Paul Casey (Eng)
Captain: Nick Faldo (Eng)

If Europe loses this, Faldo will never live it down.

I know you should pick players in form but, sometimes you should pick players who strike fear into hearts. And Montie does that and more. He lives for this competition.
But, he didn't show form throughout this season so good luck to the boys!
Go forth and spank the yanks!! ...Again!!!
No offence intended... ;)

I think he should have went poulter and clarke youth and experince. Think theres the potential for us to stuff em, they have no woods michelsons not playing great and half their team noones ever heard of. Plus westwood garcia and harrington are shit hot at the mo, harrington is proberly best in the world IMO (untill woods is back).

A bit of controversy with Nick Faldo's selections. Apparently some of the media managed to see his pairings. Even though he kept his cool he was not a happy bunny.
