What a saga……and it continues!

He was pictured at public events in the days after allegedly testing positive and then caught out being in Spain when he’d said he hadn’t visited any country.

Clearly he thinks the Aussies are a bunch of mugs and they aren’t going to be treated like that.

Surely anyone else would just say sod this and leave. Why is he so determined to stay in a country where he's as welcome as a pork pie at a Jewish wedding?

Because he’s one major away from having more than any other and this event is one that suits him best, looking at his record.

They might not need to, it depends on the country's rules and the stae of Covid in May. Not all countries are as draconian as Australia. I watched footage of a women being bundled intot he back of a police van - her crime? - she'd left her letter at home stating that she'd had her vaccines.

That's a point.

And I think anyone who gets refused entry to Australia can't then apply again for another three years!

Australia really has become a police state.
Shocking really.
As for Djokovic it seems he lied and should have just been deported. Putting him in a detention centre was a disgrace. Embarrassing for Australia.

It was his choice to stay. The policy is either get straight back on a plane and leave, or appeal and wait in the DC while that's happening.

So Australia didn't force him into the DC. He chose to appeal, and knew the process.

They don't refuse a visa then allow the person to roam freely around the country.

Australia has always been a nanny state. Drove around there in 2001, I left the campsite cycling without a helmet, I didn't realise I needed one. I was pounced on by the police within seconds of reaching the road.

We might not either. With Australia being a fellow Five Eyes country, Djokovic's Australian visa application is going to be looked at a little closer and may very well get him a visa rejection (submitting a visa application with false information is considered fraud against the federal government here). So he might not be playing in NYC come August and September.
