The Chinese crying into their noodles tonight! It's like the Opium Wars all over again for them.

I am so proud of what Great Britain has achieved, particularly in making that bit of Olympic history of being the first nation to win more than when they hosted the previous edition.

Final Medal Count (gold, silver, bronze)
1. USA (46, 37, 38) — 121
2. China (26, 18, 26) — 70
3. UK (27, 23, 17) — 67
4. Russia (19, 18, 19) — 56
5. Germany (17, 10, 15) — 42
6. France (10, 18, 14) — 42
7. Japan (12, 8, 21) — 41
8. Australia (8, 11, 10) — 29
9. Italy (8, 12, 8) — 28
10. Canada (4, 3, 15) — 22

Brazil dropped the ball by finishing 12th in total medals. Don't most host countries get into the top 10 of the medal count?

Not really, I think they did as well as was expected.

Greece didn't in 2004, neither did Canada in 1976.

It took us four years to realise that London 2012 had an unseen legacy, which is basically these results.

With the W/C in London next year there is every chance the momentum can carry on

Who knows how many British kids have been influenced by these two most recent Olympics? We won't know for a decade, but that is the scale of it. This success has the potential to transcend generations and win GB medals in as-yet unknown future olympiads
Corinthians 15:57; But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus

Mo Farah says he won't run the 5k or 10k at the next Olympics. Maybe the marathon.

In face the worlds next year will be his swan song on the track inside stadiums.

As a Brit, he's the best on track and field by a mile.

Better than phelps. Would put Bolt over him
