Horse racing doping scandal

Postby gzagee » Tue Apr 23, 2013 9:11 pm

Godolphin racing backed by the Al Maktoum family has been exposed for doping their racehorses.
It's unclear whether the horses were actually racing or not but, 11 horses were found to have traces of anabolic steroids.

Obviously, horse raicing has a history of inside betting and such like but, I don't think I've ever heard of a horse being doped up.

I've heard it before, at least over here in the states it has been a really big issue. Not just steroids but other drugs as well that help it get an edge.

The owners and trainers should be fined and banned. The punters are the ones who have lost out. How gutted would you be if you had big money on a horse who just came second beaten by a smack head horse.

Beefy f***ing horse...

Horse racing is a very corrupt sport/business. They're putting new rules in place to try and curb that corruption but like many things it takes time.

Horse racing and greyhounds are both evil f***ing sports anyway. More horses end up being shot than anything else. And greyhounds is just barbaric.

Race horses live a life of luxury and are purpose bred. It's not like they get one from down the street and put it on the 4:40 at Pontefract.

Apparently he (the trainer) is saying they were doped whilst in Stud? I take it to mean they'd finished their racing careers by that time.
