Oscar Pistorius - The Trial

Postby Özilfan » Tue Feb 19, 2013 3:23 pm

Definitely the most shocking story in sport right now. He claims to have heard an intruder and said he felt afraid. He put on his prosthetic legs and got his gun. He assumed his wife was sleeping and crept into the corridor. He heard a noise in the bathroom and shot through the door four times. Three of those bullets hit his wife. She died soon after.

I just hope the truth comes out.

The only thing that baffles me is after he called out when he heard someone, surely his girlfriend would of said its her. After the 1st shot, she must of shouted. I don't understand that part of it.

So you're not alone in the house, but still think the noise you heard must have been from an intruder, and you then decided to shoot 4 times through a door without giving any warning.
There's something fishy about his side of the story, a real conundrum to know what it is.

Yeah, door was locked. Shout first?

Seems strange to lock the bathroom door in the middle of the night as it is.

I have no idea what to make of it all to be honest! didnt they find messages on her iphone from a rugby player? and steroids in his house? roid rage? jealousy? or did he really think she was an intruder? if i was with someone in my house and i woke up to find someone locked in the bathroom i would assume its the person im with..... But he is as paranoid as hell.

Let's say I believe him (I don't), I'm not allowed to shoot without a warning (unless one of us is in immediate danger) and I'm a soldier.

Obviously the laws where I live don't apply to this case... but in Ohio, if you shoot a person, there must be three conditions for you to not face criminal conviction of at the least manslaughter and at the worst murder.

1. There must be a clear and immediate threat of severe bodily harm or death.
2. You were not at fault for creating the confrontation or incident.
3. You were unable to retreat from the situation.

Clearly 1 and 3 were not met in this case. There was a closed door between him and the person he shot, so he clearly wasn't in immediate danger. And again, he could have retreated from the situation rather than investigating the noise in the first place so 3 isn't met either.

In Ohio, he's going to prison. Just a matter of for how long based on that evidence.

That's why you're taught here to remain in your bedroom, lock the door, call the cops and announce to the intruder that you've done that and if he comes in you will shot, but you do not want to hurt him, so please leave.
This space used to be more fun...

God knows what to believe

If he's telling the truth then that is tragic for all concerned. But neighbours said they heard shouting prior to the event so...... probably not.

A witness heard gunshots, screaming, and then more shots fired at the home of athlete Oscar Pistorius on the night Reeva Steenkamp was killed, a police officer has said.

Day two of his bail hearing in Pretoria also heard police suggest Mr Pistorius could be a flight risk.

He denies the premeditated murder of Ms Steenkamp, his girlfriend, saying he mistook her for an intruder.

A full trial of the Paralympic star, 26, is not expected for months.

It's so obviosuly a premeditated murder, and I'm guessing the call to his friend was an attempt for an emotional alibi.

He's not a laughing stoke, by the way, more like a hated coward.

I love the judges comment that he does not have a violent character!!?? He did have a hand gun, cricket bat and a shot gun, he has admitted to shooting. How much more violent do you need to be!!
