6 years for cold bloded murder is pathetic. He should have got life in prison. Dont care if he's a cripple or not

Should've held the whole trial in Zulu tbh.

Anyone know if the year he already did counts as part of the 6 or is it completely irrelevant now?

Can't tell if you guys are trolling or not. Our legal system doesn't give life imprisonment for 1st degree murder, nor should it.

Just because it is stopped doesn't mean its not a just sentence for a w***er like him.

Our minimum sentence for murder is 15 years, but since OP is a first time offender + has been ruled to be unlikely to do it again 15 becomes a maximum. The 9 years taken off is due to mitigating factors, some of which even I disagree with. 10 years would have been better, maybe even 12.

Also, for whoever asked, this is a fresh sentence. He has to serve 6 years, but will probably be out on parole after 2.

That's what the prosecutors originally tried to do when they charged him with the version of murder that carries that sentence. However that version of murder requires proof that OP had intended and planned ahead to murder her, which there certainly was not enough evidence to support that beyond reasonable doubt. Therefore because they had made such a hash of it in trying to have a high profile execution, that's why OP got that culpable homicide verdict originally.

I personally think they only granted the state appeal to change it to murder as if to say "you mucked that one up, try not to do so again".

On top of that the judge is reading in her second (but more probably, her third or fourth) language.

It was ridiculous though. I assume she wrote that statement herself, yet she was stumbling through sentences and butchering words as if they were foreign to her. On top of that she was droning on for about two hours before finally delivering her verdict ffs.

Its not a just sentence because it's not a just sentence. Not because it's stopped. Teach someone killing is wrong by killing them? Makes sense

When he gets out he's going to be short of cash after all those legal bills, and he'll have no income.

I predict some seriously f***ked up pornos featuring Mr Pistorius

Everyone would be appalled. But everyone would have a little peek
