2012 Aussie Rules Finals Series.

Postby AustralianArsenal » Fri Sep 07, 2012 8:01 am

It's that time of year again. AFL finals. After a rather intresting year of football we get down to the pointy end of the season.

It kicks off tonight with what looks to be match of the weekend in the 1st Qualifying final between Hawthorn and Collingwood.
Tommrow it's the 2nd Qualifying final between Adelaide and Sydney and Geelong vs Fremantle in the 2nd Elimination final and finally on sunday the 1st Elimination final between West Coast and North Melbourne.

Putting the spotlight on tonights game. Perhaps the Collywobbles will strike early this year.

Hawthorn vs Collingwood has just wrapped up with Hawthorn getting the week off with a 38 point win over the Collywobbles.
FINAL SCORE: HAW: 20.15 (135) COLL: 15.7 (97)

It was a close contest until half time but Hawthorn came away. Maxwell for Collingwood will be getting weeks for a high hit on Hawthorns Puopolo. In fact he was reported by the umpire. The only problem with Hawthorn is an injury to Whitecross in the first Quarter forcing Hawthorn to use thier sub. Although later on he was walking around fine with a smile in the face. Dawes for Collingwood was hopeless. Tarrent lost the mind games battle with Buddy Franklin a few times.
Gibson was fantastic down back with quite a number of spoils to stop the Collingwood foward line.

It wasn't a bad game. I can't see the other 3 being as good as this.
West Coast should win, Geelong should and Adelaide should.

Don't worry we sometimes feel that way. Usually it's the men in Yellow(Umpires) the do it. Being consistant seems to be impossible. Of course with the AFL changing stuff every 5 minutes it gets harder to keep up.
There is of course a simple rule. If you don't barrack for Collingwood you hate Collingwood.
Other than that. A goal is worth 6(The ball travels though the two big sticks without being touched) and a point is worth 1(Ball goes though one of the small sticks and one of the big sticks. Touched whilst going though the goals. Hits the Goal posts)

It's the 2011 version but they're still the same this year.

Cheers for that buddy. I'm always open to watching new sports, it's just hard to get into when you don't understand them. I'll give that a look for sure.

I would like AFL a hell of a lot more if they didn't try to f**k football (real football) over every opportunity they got... completely screwed up our world cup bid

The 2nd Qualifying final has just finished with Sydney winning by 29 points.

FINAL SCORE: SYD: 11.5 (71) ADEL: 5.12 (42)
Not a great game by anyones standards. Sydney's gamestyle made it as boring as bat droppings. It was most evident in the 3rd quarter where the first goal of the quarter didn't happen until thre 23rd minute. On the clock there was 1:30 left. Before that there were only 4 points scored.
Sydney didn't get away without an Injury. McGlynn went down with a hamstring injury and looks to set to miss the rest of the season.
Adelaide didn't aswell with an injury to Talia and Dangerfield.
Adelaide well how to describe them. Well they were deplorable. They were found out today. The soft draw they had this year has really caught them out. They were fumbling it everywhere, missing set shots you name it.
Whoever wins tonight will absloutly flog Adelaide next week!

Crows have beaten Freo and Geelong this year :dontknow:
never understood why the draw is set up so that teams play some teams twice and others once... kind of hard to take it seriously

It's the silly system that the AFL uses. The computer spits out FIXture. I think next year they're doing somthing about it.

Quite a few Geelong supporters jaws have hit the deck at the moment. I'll let the score do the talking:
QUARTER TIME: FREM: 5.7 (37) GEEL: 0.1 (1)
I suspect Scott is giving them an absloute talking to at the moment.

It's the upset of the finals Geelong has been Eliminated.
FINAL SCORE: FREM: 14.12 (96) GEEL: 11.14 (80)

It's worse for Geelong Kelly was reported for striking.
It was a great game from Fremantle really dominated Geelong.

Final game of the weekend with West Coast embarassing North Melbourne by 96 points. That's West Coast's biggest win in a final.
FINAL SCORE: WCE: 24.18 (162) NM: 9.12 (66)

West Coast were absloutly fantastic. Leaving North Melbourne with a score of 0.3 (3) by Quarter Time.
Norf were found out big time today. How they were even top 8 is beyond me.

NEXT WEEK
2nd Semi Final
Adelaide vs Fremantle Friday Night AMMI Stadium
1st Semi Final
Collingwood vs West Coast Saturday Night MCG.

With the semis done theres only two weeks of footy left.
On Friday Adelaide came back from a rather poor start to win by 10 points:
FINAL SCORE: ADEL: 12.9 (81) FREM: 11.5 (71)
And last night it was a tight contest with West Coast looking like they could steal the win until in the 3rd Quarter Eagles player Embley made an absloute meal of a kick going off Half Back resulting in a turnover and a goal to Collingwood. From there West Coast never looked in it.
FINAL SCORE: COLL: 10.13 (73) WCE: 9.6 (60)

For the Semis:
2nd Prelim:
Sydney vs Collingwood ANZ Stadium Friday night
1st Prelim Hawthorn vs Adelaide MCG Saturday twilight.

Prelims all over.
Sydney were absloutly fantastic against the Collywobbles.
FINAL SCORE: SYD: 13.18 (96) COLL: 10.10 (70)

And tonight it was a great game with Adelaide sticking it up to both to Hawthorn and the umpires. Hawthorn came away 5 point winners.
FINAL SCORE: HAW: 13.19 (97) ADEL: 14.8 (92)
The umpires tonight should never be allowed near a game of football again. They were absloutly wowful and were giving Hawthorn a free ride throughout the game.
