Lance Armstrong - Drugs cheat or Legend?

Postby Özilfan » Fri Aug 24, 2012 12:51 pm

Read all about it here.

Is his 'giving up' an admission of guilt? Was he just doping because everyone else was? Should he be stripped of his titles? Is he still the legend who battled back from cancer to win the TdF and raised $500 million for cancer research?

I just can't imagine that a "proper" guy can beat all the other cheaters. That's why I also think he cheated.

The guy's been hounded for 15 years now or some shit, even if he is innocent, I can imagine by now he's probably like "f**k it, I don't even care anymore, just leave me alone."

I didn't read the article, because I don't really care all that much, but did they finally find real proof? Or is it still more speculation?

No, no real proof, but tons of evidence. Either way, if most were cheating then who cares. It's kind of like the steroid era in baseball. So many people were on them, that it really wasn't much of an advantage.

How can they even think of stripping him of any titles with no cast iron evidence ? Without a positive test (and remember he's the most tested athlete in history ) all "evidence" is circumstantial.

Lance Armstrong is a legend, an inspiration for everybody. His fighting spirit, resilience and tenacity on and off the track has to be saluted. So what if they stripped him off his multiple tour de France titles, he will always be the people's champion

Bradley wiggins is the people's champion, the sideburns are his weapons of mass destruction.

Now why couldn't they have thought like this with the Italian match fixing scandal and took away all of Juve's titles :sneaky2:

Seriously though they cannot take all of his titles away without evidence.

Yup.

I mean reducing a man's achievement to zero after so many years and in his retirement, wtf were they doing all these years ?

I will tell you, they have not spared a single under hand tactic to nail him some how for the past fifteen years.

Armstrong has passed more than hundred tests in that period ffs. I mean for me it is a clear case of a witch hunt. Even for a moment if you believe a person has cheated at some point how can you wipe his entire slate of achievements clean? I mean by any standards across sports the evidence has to be overwhelmingly strong, consistent, plenty and conclusive to strip a man of all his achievements and ban him from taking part in any assignment with the sport in future.

Why is the sport not proud of him and looking to celebrate him?

He sounds innocent to me, even his "I cannot be bothered to fight it any more" attitude seems like something an innocent man would do after all this time.

Here's the thing.. nobody wins and event like this without juicing. The benefits are extraordinary, imagine if he really wasn't... to my point, they all do it, the ones that win, so ban them all.
