He sounded terrible though UFGN. I would have much rather seen Noel there.

Think of it in terms of the whole ceremony. The greats in the history of British music mixed with contemporary (shit) artists. As a contemporary band, Liam and Beady Eye have done sweet f**k-all so far, whereas history would have Noel as the man who wrote the best songs for arguably the greatest British rock band in the last 30 years.

Would have been more fitting for Noel to do it.

... I wouldn't be complaining if Liam actually sang it well though

I dont know how many live performances of his youve seen, but he wasnt that bad. Even at the bands peak his live performances have always been criticised. I really dont know what people expect. At that show last night you had Roger Daltrey who is a phenominal live rock singer, and Freddie, whoes dead. Other than those two, hes alongside, or better than, pretty much any other live rock singer.

Haven't seen any live performances in person, plenty on TV, and yea, by his own standards he wasn't that bad.

... better than Ian Brown I suppose.

Daltrey was that good it could have been mimed!I've seen Weller live, would have loved to have seen him there last night.

He needs to drop all instruments and microphones... better to burn out than fade away, and at the moment he's like a flickering flame. It's depressing.

It's not just poor performances from the old man now, but any time he's put pen to paper in the last 20 years nothing good has come from it.

The tallented musicians in that band were Lennon and Harrison. Macca was bass player for a reason. The more you listen to their music, the more that becomes clear. And their respective post-beatles careers confirm it.

McCartney was f***ing awful in that opening ceremony, couldn't sing a note.
I was more annoyed by the fact that he was there at all though. Ruined the ceremony for me because the rest of it was great and then we predictably wheel out an old Beatle as if it's the only decent band this country has ever produced. Boring.

Oh, and Liam did not sing well last night, sorry UFGN he just didn't.
My Mrs actually thought it was someone else singing at first.

Madness were godawful, much worse than Liam or anyone else. Suggs just cannot sing anymore. We all loved Madness back in the day but people should just learn when it's time to say goodbye.
If you can't f***ing sing then don't get on the godmothering stage ffs.
Part of last night had a theme of 'Old 80's f***ers who can't sing anymore.'
Oh and Est, The Pet Shop Boys were miming.

While we're at it what was Russell Brand doing there at all? Ruining a perfectly good song from Charlie & The Chocolate Factor and then yet more f***ing Beatles. The man's a stand-up comedian so why is he suddenly singing? Just because he played a singer in a couple of films it does not make him a singer.

Suggs has never been able to sing live. Not now and not in his hey day. Great music but Suggs couldnt sing if his life depended on it.
