Why do they refer to him as British when he has made it clear that he hates England?
He should be referred to as Scottish!!

Yes.
A few years ago he said "I'm not f***ing British, i'm Scottish".

Complete nonsense! He doesn't hate England! When he made his infamous "anyone but England" comment, it was in response to some light hearted teasing by Tim Henman during a press conference when he asked Andy who Scotland were playing in the World Cup Finals in 2006. A journalist then asked Andy who he would be supporting given that Scotland had failed to qualify. Murray replied "anyone but England" as a light hearted retort to Henman's comment about Scotland. As usual the press jumped on the comment from a teenage lad who was at that time getting to grips with the pressures of handling the media. He's been made to suffer for it ever since. Both Murray and Henman have enormous respect for each other and Henman himself has said it was nothing more than both players winding each other up in jocular fashion. Given the fact that Murray officially resides in London and counts on a number of friends of varying nationalities (including English) from different sports, I suggest you come up with more concrete evidence to back up your ridiculous claim.JackMan86 wrote:I hate Andy Murray. That statement, if true, doesn't mean he hates England. I regard myself as being Scottish before British but I don't hate or dislike England. There are people all over the UK who will regard themselves as being English, Welsh or Northern Irish before British. I fail to see the issue here!GunnGunn wrote:Est83 wrote:I've always got that vibe from him personally, but has he actually said anything to that effect?
