Too good mate.

My mate who bets all the time doesn't touch it as it's price is usually like 1/9.

From yesterday..

I wasn't comparing the type of horses... I just said Frankel will never hold a candle to Red Rum...

The strange thing about Red Rum is it never won anything else apart from the Grand National and I think the Scottish national. Not taking anything away from it as it's the toughest race in the world. It just seems weird that it never won any other big races. It was before my time though so I don't know too much about it apart from the success it did have.

Speaking of that Frankel horse, a guy i went to school with put his life savings on the horse to win. He bet something like £9,500 on it and only won like £1,500.

Absolute madness!!

Probs even less mate as I heard this morning it was 1/10 it ran off at so probably won £950 from a £9500 stake. Yes it should always win but something can always happen. I've seen a horse killed at Pontefract which is flat. If Frankel somehow falls or manages to get stuck behind, it's just not worth your savings.

It's not as risky as doing it with someone like Kauto Star when it was in it's prime. Was always going to win but there was always that chance of a fall at the fences which it did a few times, especially at the start of it's career.

Rum retired before I was born but was the horse of my time so to speak... Just one of those things you grow up with, I rode at Lea Valley in London for several years, always "wanted to be a jockey".

Just bias I guess... Nothing from a punters POV :dontknow:

Don't know if anyone follows the sport (I don't) but American Pharaoh has just completed the Triple Crown.

Huge deal. First time it's happened in 37 years and only the 12th horse in history to achieve the feat.

Would agree. Though I prefer Serena's double, myself.

I do a bit, hence why I started this thread! But yeah, got to witness a bit of history, I personally didn't think it would happen, but it was pretty exciting. I didn't bet on the race, but I probably would have went with Frosted if I did, he was the best bet as far as money is concerned, ended up 2nd. AP was just too good, I didn't think he'd keep that pace for a mile and half but thats one strong horse.
