Horse Racing

Any fans here?

I've recently become addicted. Not so much with the gambling in it, but with the experience and the buzz you get when your horse wins. I don't bet much so don't win much, but I usually come out ahead each night I go, which is just free fun for me. Anyway, there is a track about 40 mins from my house that I go to some weekends. Anybody else a fan, or go to any tracks by their house? Is it popular in England at all?

How do you usually bet?

I like to get a program, look at the odds, look at the jockey, and the trainers record, and then go look at the horses before each race and then make my pick and go bet a few minutes before each race.

Horse racing in England is huge these days.

I go to most meetings at Pontefract races about a 5minutes from my house.

It's a good day out. Usually come back about £100 up and then spend it all in the pub after! haha

That's cool. Is the horse any good?

How do you usually bet? Exacta, trifecta, win, place, show?

When I'm at Pontefract races I'll generally have £10 on a horse to win and then stick £1 each way on an outsider for each race.

I pick my horses before I leave the house. I have a read up on them and look who the jockey is.

His horse is called Henry Bee.

It's placed a few times but keeps getting forced to add weight to the ride which is frustrating as it hasn't even won yet! I think my mate said it's long term plan is get running on turf more but I may be wrong. I'm expecting to see it on the turf at Pontefract by the end of the flat season though.

It's trainer is Fahey so it's in the right hands and had champion jockey Paul Hanagan ride a few times as well.

I'll have another scratched from the Bellmont Stakes Race, was going for the triple crown. Sad for the owner and trainer and jockey could have been special. Not going to be as exciting of a race now, but I'll still put a few bucks on it and watch it.

I hear some folks calling that Frankel horse one of the greatest ever. Just raced and won his 11th at Royal Ascot over there. Have you heard of him at all Yorky?

Frankel is a legend... Still doesn't hold a candle to Red Rum though (RIP)
