Shaquille O’Neal told the world Wednesday that he will retire from the NBA after 19 seasons.

And how did the near-certain future Hall-of-Famer announce it to his fans? He used Twitter.

Every single article I can find is talking more about the fact he used the t**t to do it, rather than the fact it's done but yes, Shaquille O'Neal has retired officially after 19yrs of service to the NBA.

If you consider less than an hour to be long before, I guess you're right. All I know is it was announced on twitter about 3-4pm yesterday and I saw it on espnnews first, at 3-4pm yesterday... So for all intents and purposes the same time.

Whatever, semantics.

If it was twitter first, it was by mere minutes.

I think it's obvious what's happened...

ESPN saw the vid - Got exclusive first "Post-Retirement interview" with him.

But at the end of the day vid was posted before he spoke to ESPN - So therefore he announced it first via Social Networking lol
