Because he wouldn't have tried to pot the ball Murphy did and lost as a result. Not saying he shouldn't have tried, cos if he's played safe and lost the frame, he's have forever regretted not trying, but Selby plays the odds so well.

Was hoping for a Murphy victory but Selby style and tenacity whore him down,
Great event and a great television sport it's made for tv shame it is not popular enough in this country to see more.

Just watched Ronnie's 13 147 breaks one after another looks so easy and become boring in the end Higgins 69 clearance against white WC semi I think in 82 is still best break I have seen

Saw a bit of that Higgins break in some documentary recently.
Wow
Awesome
I agree long century breaks can be boring as hell. That's why I never mind a tactical frame.
But Ronnies 147 in 5 mins is not rivalled by anything.

Interesting I heard recently that Davis thought Alex Higgins was the only player in the early 80s that could rival him tactically, he just rarely played that way.

Thank god snooker has started again. Although it is only the match room league and players look mostly uninterested like pre season friendlies, players look as motivated as our transfer staff.
