New York Yankees - 'World' Series Champions 2009

Postby yanksgooner » Mon Oct 26, 2009 3:37 pm

I don't think that anyone around this forum is terribly bothered with baseball (yeah, rounders, I know), but the Yankees have won their 40th American League Pennant last night against Anaheim and will be playing in the 'world' series this Wednesday night in the Bronx.

Dodgers got stuffed by Philadelphia 4 games to 1, for the NL Pennant.

Yeah, I guess it's tough to like the Yankees if you don't live here. I'm guessing ChVint, you're either a RedS*x fan or Cards. Either way, no joy this October for you!

last night was fcking mental up at the stadium. Got some great video too.

Cards fan buddy, can't you see it in my sig?

If you don't live in NY or aren't from there, then liking the yankees is like an American liking Liverpool or United. Its easy to jump on the bandwagon of the most succesful team in that sport or league.

No, your sig says 'ImageImage'. Never heard of that team.
Could be firewall issues. 8)

Anyway, the red sox are the hot bandwagon pick for baseball fans. Lord knows why.

I did a STL trip in 05 for the Yankees at Cards. Was a pretty good time at the old Busch.
A little too wholesome for me, but nonetheless a good baseball town.

Here's a pic from that trip. There's me in the middle with the black shirt and the $10 giant Cards beer.

Nice one! I miss the old girl, although our new stadium is the business.

The $10 beers suck though, its a complete rip off, but you can't really go to a game and not have a beer.

Well at least you picked a good football/soccer team to follow. ;)

I'll get to the new Busch sooner or later. They livened that area up some or no? Last I remember it was Lacledes Landing, Pitchers @ The Marriott, or you're shit outta luck for a beer around there. I also remember there being some strange bowling museum there too.

Your Triple-A facility in Memphis is nice also. I hit that place up a few yrs back.

They still haven't built the ball park village they said they were going to build, due to money issues or whatever, but they're still planning on it. That is supposed to be a BIG entertainment center, with condos, offices, and plenty of nightlife places, so it should be cool if it ever gets done. St. Louis is a small city, especially compared to NY, but there are plenty of places to get a beer afterwards or before, you just need the right people to show you where they are. Lacledes Landing is ok, but its more for clubbing and shit like that.

Haha the bowling musuem use to be the bowling hall of fame, never been in there myself, but now its just a musuem or whatever I'm not even sure.

The Triple A park in Memphis is pretty nice, especially since its right next to Beale Street, that place is fun on its own.

To be fair, isn't it called the World rounders series as it's sponsored by a publication called The World, or something similar.
