I was hoping that they would choose Rio but i was expecting it to be Chicaago or Tokyo. I wonder if high altitude is going to be an issue as it was in Mexico?

Brazil get the World Cup in 2014 and the Olympics in 2016. It's going to be a massive few years for Brazilian sport (and its economy!).

Everyone seems to be saying that Obama was humiliated by not winning it when he made the effort to go. But I think it actually reflects quite well on him. Some past presidents wouldnt have bothered but this shows he isnt an arrogant prick like some other US presidents have been.

I thought Tokyo had a good chance of getting it too.
A few of my mates went to the World Cup finals in Japan and siad it was done brilliantly.
Maybe having had the World Cup so recently went against them getting the Olympics? :dontknow:
