this is not sport for ordinary people.

we (workers) have football, managers have tennis and firm owners have golf. the higher you are, the smaller ball you get! :dontknow:

those scores are for matchplay, ie its a player v a player, not the usual scoring system

so a player for team us playes a player from team europe

if the us player wins that hole (takes less shot than her opponent) she gets 1 point

if they are level (ie both get birdies) the hole is halved so no player gets a point (1/2 each = no gain on each side = 0 points)

at the end of a round each match is counted up, and the winning player gets a point for her team, or if its a draw, each team gets half a point added to score

its really easy to understand if you watch it

Got my first golf lesson in about 7 months tomorrow morning. I was rubbish 7 months ago, so I can't imagine how bad I will be tomorrow.

Went to Urban Golf in central the other day. It was a good laugh... loved it. Never played golf before in my life but got the hang of it by the end of the day!

Mine's on Friday 17th I think mate, nervous as a coot already.

You got yourself a handicap yet?

I shot my best ever 9 holes on Friday, just a shame i'd put 6 balls in the lake on the front 9.

Still don't have a handicap, but did ok. They paired us up so beginners played with someone decent and alternated the shots which meant it wasn't so serious if I fluffed my tee shot.

I made one brilliant chip over a bunker and straight in the hole. Complete fluke though!

Playing can be good fun if you're with a bunch of mates but I don't understand watching it at all

Anyone watching the Masters? Any picks on who might win it. That Irish kid McIlroy is looking up for it.

Let's see how he fares in the 2nd round. I hear Augusta can be a very unforgiving course.
I've got a sneaking feeling about Matt Kuchar.
