All about track and field

It's always been like this.

Never cared about anything besides the track events, thought it was the same for everyone.

Nah.
Track and field is the jewel in the crown of the Olympics but some of the other sports are great to watch every 4 years.

In other news, some American gymnast quits after a shit start putting it down to mental health

ie. she ran away like a coward because she screwed up a move. Leaving her team having to fight on one man down. You do not abandon your team like that. Who knew she was such a snowflake?

She was a disgrace to get herself, her teammates, all other athletes, the fans of sport and her country.
Hope the US team drop her like a stone.

Been the Olympic champ before world champ several times and has nothing left to prove, a survivor of the gymnastics sex scandals and has won events with broken toes and having gallstones.
Snowflake I dont think so, timing may have not been the best but people should applaud mental health being put first.
Cricketer Stokes has just retired indefinitely for the same reasons good on him as well.

Gold medals in the mixed swimming relay and Triathlon. I think Japan is putting on a great games given the circumstances, it's a shame there are no fans able to be at the events. Hats off to the competitors too, it can't have been easy training to be at top level during this awful pandemic.

I'm not sure it's a mental health issue with biles, I can understand why she pulled out if this guy is right.

https://www.balls.ie/olympics/irish-gym ... ies-478414

'When you're twisting in a somersault, sometimes your brain just malfunctions and you get lost in the air. You literally don't know where you are, how many twists you've done, how many twists you still have to do... That is such a scary feeling. With the "twisties" comes a huge amount of anxiety'

I love sport and have tried many, mainly I'm a runner, but I could never, ever do the vault.

Yeah I’m really enjoying it. I love watching the variety of sports and hearing the different stories of the winners and the other competitors.

Seems like the delayed games has also given opportunity to some competitors who may not have been ready due to age or through injury.

Asher-Smith up this morning. Women’s 100m looks strong as f**k though. She’ll have to go some to get a medal.

What she did is the equivalent of a 100m relay runner on the first leg standing up before the gun sounds and saying 'Nah, I don't feel like it'.
We live in a world where somehow that is considered noble.
It isn't. It's cowardly. It's selfish.
I note she also pulled this act and let her teammates down just after she had made a mistake.
Smacks of 'if I can't be the star and have all the limelight I don't give a f**k about my teammates' - not mental health.

Daryll Neater for GB in the final. Well done! She ran under 11 seconds in the heat, let's hope she can replicate that time in the final.
