Should we be a bit worried about Stability?

Postby O2il » Tue Jul 22, 2014 8:58 pm

Wenger reportedly said...

1. Many Arsenal players have played only five to 15 games and that is where we want to improve of course next season.

2. City and Liverpool's offensive potential has been fantastic. That's where we need to improve.'

3. In our job, there is a technical risk when you buy more than three players as you unbalance a bit the stability of your squad (ie Spuds last year)

Shad Forsythe hopefully solves the first statement.

Sanchez to help with the second statement (I'm sure he will improve our offensive).

Probably 1 defensive replacement (for Vermaelen) and Debuchy for Sagna, reserve keeper (replace Fabianski), DM (we want to help for Diaby and Arteta during the season) plus Sanchez.

I want a striker, however with 5 players of which 2 or 3 will probably start (not sure on DM) would more new players be too much of a technical risk?

Aldridge is down, Barnes is down; Dalglish just stands there, Nicol’s on his knees, McMahon’s on his knees

It's always a danger, but then again, out squad (bar sagna) did very well considering the amount and lengths of injuries we had to deal with during all parts of the season.

Theres always going to be an issue integrating loads of players in, but realistically, it will be sanchez and debuchy who do the most adjusting most quickly.

Ospina won't get that many games week in week out.

Another DM rotating with arteta until he is settled (hopefully around jan) won't destabilise us that much. That's a lot of players who have played with each other for years in the lineup.

It's not like we have done a Spurs and thrown everyone in straight away and hoped for the best.

Agreed, however would you add a great striker to all that, this soon?

To be fair, Debuchy won't need too much integration because he's used to the perm, and he isn't a young kid. I think that's why Wenger went for him, because he knew he'd be integrating maybe Sanchez in one position, maybe Bender/Khedira in another both from new leagues, so getting a steadying force in at RB was smart thinking.

As for a Verm replacement/4th choice CB, and a backup GK, well they're going to be a sub/reserve so it's not like we're throwing them in.

I don't think it will be an issue

Never say never though. We didn't need verms this season too much, but when we had ALL of our WFs out, we were just about cobbling a team together with CMs there.

Same goes for LB at some points and the nail in the coffin - CM finally.

When we get injuries, its in a cluster and it's because our squad just isn't big enough to go for all comps. Getting these extra players in now is better than waiting imo, as they have a half/full year extra to get used to the pace of the league, the no winter break and their team mates.
