He was a great player for us. :)

Liked his professionalism apart from his meltdown after that west ham game. Much respect Sol :)

you`v sussed me out........dam it :crybaby:

Nah seriously though,,,,i thought he was crap FACT

is that better

nope, you saying something is a fact doesn't make it a fact
being a stalwart of a defence that went 49 games unbeaten - that's a fact
being in the PFA team of the year twice when he was with us - that's a fact
being a key member of a side that won 2 league titles and 3 FA Cups - that's a fact
scoring in a champions league final - that's a fact

are you slow, or just trolling?

Sol Campbell retires.

Postby Plymouth Gooner » Sun May 06, 2012 6:32 pm

The Ferdinand/Campbell partnership is the best CB pairing for England I have ever seen. They complimented each other perfectly.
Squad with players better than we have, who go to lesser clubs:

Stekelenburg (4m)
Szczesny
Sagna--Mertesacker--Koscielny--Gibbs
Jenkinson--?????--Vermaelen--Monreal
?????--Wilshere/Arteta
Ramsey--Wilshere/Arteta
Cazorla
Rosicky
Walcott------Podolski
Chamberlain------?????
?????

Boxer thinks Sol was crap -> FACT
I think Boxer knows crap about defenders -> FACT

In all seriousness, even if the guy wasn't the most loyal throughout his career, while he played for us he gave it all and was a superb defender.

But the thing is. We weren't the ones rude about it, at first...

You called us numpty's and told us to "jog on", your opinion is your opinion but you're the one that made it sound like only yours was the one that mattered, or the correct one... Nobody else.

You also seem to be in an extreme minority who wouldn't consider him as such.

I dont need to :BangHead: its my opinion.

but what do i know :dontknow: im just a factory worker. who knows nothing about football. i just go and watch Arsenal.

how about all you know-it-all`s. any of you football coaches,,,,nah did`nt think so. makes me laugh. you think coz you rate him then thats all that matters. if he did`nt play for us you`d all be slagging him.

opinions are what make the world go round,,but hay.

so you don't care at all if your opinion is valid? Each to their own I guess
you'll understand if I discount your opinion as completely and utterly irrelevant then? Good.
I don't think Campbell is a legend purely based on my own opinion, that would be stupid. I base it on what he's done for the club.
Sol Campbell is an Arsenal legend... FACT

I loved him, although we lost this final I still remember that goal he scored in the Champions League final in 2006, I think it was in Paris when we got a freekick and just headed it into the to corner, it is still one of favourite moments.

For the reasons cited earlier, I dont class him an Arsenal legend. Asking to leave for a move abroad all the way to Portsmouth!

I class him as a great player in a legendary era
