that's stupid imo. in fact i think that would make it even sweeter... the fact that they let a great player go and then we snapped him up... Ultimate bragging rights

13th of May 2012 Arsenal beat West Brom 3-2 to finish 3rd ahead of Newcastle. Gooney is still yet to leave the forum...

Boateng signed a contract with Tottenham Hotspur in July 2007, for a reported fee of £5.4 million.[13][14] He played his first match in the Premier League on 3 November 2007, against Middlesbrough. With the departure of Tottenham manager Martin Jol, and the arrival of Juande Ramos and several high profile players, Boateng was pushed out of the first team and into the reserves.[15] Boateng returned to the first team the following season under new coach Harry Redknapp[16] before being loaned out during the January transfer window of 2009 to Borussia Dortmund for the remainder of the season.[17] Boateng then returned to Tottenham at the end of the 2008–09 season. His last game for Tottenham came as a substitute in the club's 5–1 win in the Football League Cup over Doncaster Rovers in August 2009.[18]

He wasn't there more than a year I don't think. Only played a handful of games before moving to Portsmouth.

Either way, it's nothing compared to the 200+ apps Sol had for them. And he was their captain.

Getting Sol was sweet because they loved him, He was their captain and they wanted to keep him.

Kevin was their for 2 years according to Wiki and played 14 league games for them, I'd be alright with signing him, But would prefer not to.

Walcott, Song and Oxlade were kids not ready to start games when we signed them.

Adebayor, Sagna and Nasri were proven in the French league but were nowhere near their peak when we signed them.

Koscielny wasn't even proven in the French league.

You could argue that arshavin and eduardo were proven internationals but both came from lesser leagues.

Arteta was proven in the Premiership but wasn't in the top bracket of players.

Vermaelen, despite being captain of Ajax was still relatively unknown.

None of these are the same level as Prince-Boetang. He has done the business in two of the toughest leagues in the world and is at an age where he is just reaching his peak. Not to mention we'd be taking him from one of the biggest clubs in the world after he ripped us apart when we played them. So I agree with Leody.
