If this does happen it would be a great addition, 10mil is punchy for a 29 year old but I think he could add so much.

In the post season cull of the forward line have the likes of Chamakh, Arshavin Vela and Park move (I would gladly carry them to their respective destinations)
With Podolski and Dempsey coming in the other way and also have the Ox featuring more prominantely, not to mention we dont know Arsenes plans for Ryo yet either!

Umm...earlier I saw that Dempsey doesn't have good ball control... That is false; you must not watch him play. He has good close control and dribbling skill. He's the only american who does tricks on occasion. And now that he doesn't dive so much, he's a top prem player just waiting for a top club to grab him.

How many 'starters' does Sir Alex have? There is a lot of rotation in that and City's squad because the quality is throughout. We need that. Right-footed goal-scoring player on the left who always seems to be in the right place at the right time...Is 'Dempsey' a french name? I wonder...

Just as a comparison, do people rate him higher than Donovan?

For the last 2 seasons Dempsey has been king in the fantasy team league. Funny thing is people talk like he plays in some foreign minor league....the guy is doing the business in the same league our players play in, come against same players our midfielders come against.

Sometime buying players is not rocket sience, sometimes the most obvious choice is the right choice. A player who plays in a mid table team and stands out and bangs in goals from midfield. A big club that lacks goal scoring midfielder.......simples.

Also its funny Arsenal fans were saying Arteta was not good enough in the summer, after 1 season they all love him. Its like in their eyes he has finally proven himself. Everything he did at Everton didnt matter, cause Everton is a mid table team. I just dont understand that kind of logic.

Even for England I hear pundit say he has proven himself in a big club. What does that mean? Surely its more impressive if you bang in 20 goals for Bolton than for Man U? Players seem to be linked with their club according to people. If you play for Arsenal....you are Arsenal standard player. if you play for Fulham, you are Fulham standard player. no matter what you do as a Fulham player, it doesnt matter unless you do it in a big club.

Gooney, you seem to talk as though you are on one high pedestal while all other fans are on a lower keel. Why do you generalize everything to such a degree as though there are only two opinions, yours and and the rest of the world's. Without even understanding the basic premise, you go on ranting . You must be given a master's degree in exaggeration and generalization.

Calm down mate. So you are saying, there is no prestige attached to a player when he is playing for a top club ? So you are saying playing for Real Madrid and Barcelona is same as playing for Fulham ? Even in your normal life, your experience is graded up on the kind of companies you have worked in. If you work in a company which is considered the best your experience has more value similarly experience at top clubs is valued more than mid table clubs. Whether you like it or not, a footballer prefers to have a CV which contains Arsenal, Liverpool, Man-United and not Fulham, Wolves etc. At lower clubs you are a big fish in a small pond with not much competition to places while at big clubs you need to be good enough first to get in to the starting eleven as the quality levels are high in general. At lower clubs it is not difficult to get your favorite playing position while in bigger clubs there is competition and you have to fight tooth and nail to get to play in your favorite position. Rooney had to play as an AM at Man-United. To play at a top club you need to have the adaptability, quality and consistency.

The void left by Cesc needs to be filled by a player, who can create, assist and score. Our lack of creativity especially against teams which defend with ten men behind the ball has been glaring. We need somebody who can pull the strings the final third and create chances. Dempsey is a goal scoring AM but how many assists he has in the league ? He has only 5 assists in the season so far. Is that enough for us ? Buying players may not be rocket science but needs some perspective. Even the best player might not fit in to your system and style of play. You go for a player who offers what you are looking for.

Again the way you refer to other gooners as Arsenal fans and never as we suggests to me, you feel you are on a self created high pedestal. When you replace arguably the best creative midfielder in the world with Arteta naturally fans will protests right. Arteta has been a very good hard working midfielder even in his Everton days. he is more of a deep lying play-maker and a good player in his own right. When Wenger projects him as Cesc's replacement which he clearly isn't what do the fans do ? Lap up that BS ? Arteta was/is not good enough to be Cesc's replacement but that does not mean he is not a good player. Its just that its unfair on him to be compared to Cesc. Most fans on this forum have maintained that Arteta has been a good signing in isolation [ not as Cesc's replacement] and nobody has changed colors the way you say.

Every time I see clips of Donovan on MOTD he looks the more dangerous to me, but that could be just selective editing.

Watch them together in the USMNT and tell me then who stands out. :Peace:

Donovan did have a good year with Everton this year and pretty good last year, but that's only been something like 10 games? Dempsey is by far higher quality.

Arsenal~Fanatic

What Im saying must have hit you hard as it seems Im describing you. What do you mean small big fish in small pond, put Van Persie in small team and people will say big fish in small pond. How do you prove you are good enough to play for a big club before you play for a big club? I mean how many of our players have proved themselves playing for big clubs before coming to Arsenal and showing they are good enough? So why is being a Fulham player being held against him? Look at the guys background and you will see he played college football untill 22. His background is what has made his move to a big club delayed.

Also what did we win with Fabregas? The idea that we need to replace Fabregas with another Fabregas doesnt make sense. Every team is looking for a creative midfielder who gets 20 goals a season, problem is they are not easy to find. Dempsey is not as creative as Fabregas, but who says in a team the creativity has to come purely from the attacking central midfielder. Strengthen the wide areas and let them take some of the burden of the creativity and you couldnt find better player to play behind Van persie than Dempsey.

If Dempsey comes here he will compete with ramsey and rosicky and he is clearly better than both. Thats all that matters
