As stated, there are several - Though most would prefer anonymity. That said, if you look around, you'll soon see who is or should be.

The site isn't closed at all. You probably can't see too much of it as you have to donate money for the upkeep.

Sorry, but asking people here to help you get a membership there isn't the greatest idea of all time!

As for the "firm" bit, those that know know, those that don't don't. You were either a part of it or you weren't, it's a simple as that.

Effectively, if you know what "EIE" is all about, the meaning and the reason behind it, you won't go too far wrong. If you don't then you'll be pulled from pillar to post and/or refused admission.

There's enough stories on this board relating to various things (without the full details, because we don't do that here) so have a look around, they aren't hard to find ;)

Incidentally, it's The HERD not hurd - Another one of those that if you know where it came from and/or what it means, you'll be half way there.

Have a look at this, just a flavour of the good old days.

The sharper eyed among you may notice a member or two from here... :lipssealed:

Because it wasn't that way - It's just the way the "do-gooders" today would have you believe.

Rioting I think is an over-exaggeration, yes they happened, but only thanks to the OB sticking their oar in to places it wasn't needed, beefing up things to make it look like a riot, and thus covering their own shortfalls.

Let's say I went into the old Trent End at Forest, and told them all that I'd taken it. How many people will laugh, or how many people will react?

Never forgetting that for one minute, the only people involved in any "troubles" were like minded people.

Now into that, throw a couple of hundred people that couldn't get into the away end, or didn't want to. What now? (Also give thought to the fact that almost every ground charged more for away fans than home fans, and games weren't all ticket back then)

I touched on this in the "riots" thread, you defended your manor back then, get the "popular" end, and the noise was all ours.

It does go a bit deeper, but remember I'm not nor ever have been "firm" - I lived in SouthEast London for starters, and was at the younger age so never really mixed with those that were, and certainly didn't want to be part of what they were all about outside of football.

It's no particular secret that I've been pinched a few times, and done for public order offences - In fact the treasury ought to be pleased with my contributions. But I never have been, nor once were "firm" - Some on here were, and for obvious reasons, you'll have to work those out for yourselves.

Let's say you robbed a house - Would you want it publicising all over the internet?

As for those letters, well, it's a sort of "You either know what it's about or you don't" - Those that do know must have been involved in the terrace culture, those that don't are generally digging for info that they need not get hold of.

Don't forget, these people knocked around together for years and years, and have been involved with all manner of things that others don't need to know about. Virtually every club had a "firm" back in the 70's and 80's, indeed today.

Thus, if you know what it's all about, you'll know the people, and can share the stories.

That all said, it's not the Arsenal way to share - Wet Spam etc have all had books/films and I don't know what publicised - Have you ever seen anything Arsenal? Nope, nor are you ever likely to.

A certain herdsman was offered an awful lot of money (and I mean a LOT) to share - He declined, so instead of retiring happily, life goes on for him working to pay the bills...

Now if you search YouTube, you'll find various stories/vids, and there's plenty of them out there. Just remember that nobody will want to incriminate themselves.

Personally I don't respect and never have respected the hooligan element. Coming from where I came from i'd seen enough violence to not want to see it or experience it when going to a football match.

All this bravado and harking back to yesteryear is quite frankly lame. And now all i hear is these old skool hooligans denouncing the recent riots and looting. I'm not talking about those on here, I'm talking about a few I know around my parts.
Listening to them getting high, mighty and sanctimonious is BULLSH*T. They had no more reason to fight than the rioters we saw last week.

SE, there's a lot of younger Gooners that have a natural curiosity about this simply because it concerns their club. I can't see them learning of these things and then trying to convince others that they were part of it. It would be a history lesson on a soon to be forgotten era (forgotten because of certain tight-lipped individuals  .......... :hiding:)

Robbing houses? So I'm guessing the Arsenal firm did something naughty, and EIE has some reference to that event. Is there no chance you could spill the beans without dropping people in it... you could even be creative and make a little story out of it with fairy tale or comic book characters
