I just discovered the iPlayer, when i was on the TV Guide, my iPod then got something called white screen of death, its basically when you press the on button to wake it from sleep and instead of going to the lock screen, it had a full white screen.

I attempted to restore it, and i got a 1604 error and my Touch went dead, literally bricked itself.

Windows refused to recognise it, stating a driver error, numerous driver installations and restarts and nothing.

Then trawling through the internet for iPod Touch/Phone ubricking i came across a small gem, something that Apple does NOT go through with support.

Basically if the same thing happens to you, hold in the top button, and the button on the front, together, for about a minute, or until you see a CD and iPod cable image, make sure it is plugged in to your PC/Laptop when you do this.

This basically puts your iPod into recovery mode, and for some reason not many people know about it.

Anyway, if you are smart enough to backup your Touch, iTunes will restore your Touch, update it and install everything from your last backup, including settings.

Just thought i would throw this out there as this problem seems to be occuring more and more often.

...Wouldn't have happened with an Archos... :shifty:

No its really not.

I was working for Alico Uk's I.T. Department over the summer and the sheer number of faulty Blackberries in the store was an eye opener.

I found them to be ridiculous, and very unreliable, and half the people there who had them found them very difficult to use.

The scroll balls as i call them are cheap and tend to die often.

Well after all my research into wackberry's and iphones the iphone was the clear winner. So I got me a 3gs 16gb and I love it! Best phone I have ever owned, period!!!

Blackberrys are better ppfffftttt, clearly not used an iphone if you think that.

Exactly!!! I considered the storm, the curve and palm pre before opting for the iphone. Was only after messing around on my mates that I made my decision. Cant get off the bloody thing now tho!!!

I am coming to end of iphone 3G contract in May 2010, I must say apart from telephony this toy is an extremely handy gadget. Tubemap, ATMs, Banking, News, Sports updates, Remote control, and lots more.

My 12 month warranty expired in November and I did not extend my insurance cover in trying to save 7 quid a month. Two weeks ago, I synced iphone and don't know what happened there, all my contacts, notes, calendar entries simply vanished.

I contacted Apple and they said I do not get support because my 12m period expired.

Note to all new users or those coming to end of their 12m warranty:
Buy an insurance cover the first month (13th month), and take it from there..

I have both Blackberry (for work) and Iphonesince launch both 2G and 3G (not worth the upgrade to 3Gs)

The blackberry is a work tool, no fun no flexability. The iphone is the nuts!!!! can wait till July and Gen 4 should be launched!!

iPhone for Life!!
