we have a physio at the club and she reckons that i am looking at 3 weeks after the cast is off i should be able to bat in short bursts in the nets. but it is doubtfull i will be able to play a match again this season. We have indoor nets at the club so i will be able to net through the winter and work on some fitness for next season......

I shouldn't laugh, but the amount of times I have encountered self inflicted injuries, not just in cricket. To be honest, it's a complete shock that I have 5 kids!

One of my worst was putting myself at short mid wicket, and sneezing. I took a belter to the left eye. Tell you what though, it's cheaper than drinking to get that feeling!

Just trying to recall some of the cricket injuries I've had...... One was coming in late (maybe 9 or 10) and thinking that there was no real pace in the attack, so I'll not bother with a box. Yep, first ball right in the plums. I was down for hours!

Another was going as a scorer, and I went for a pint at drinks. They somehow started before I was back, and the first ball went full into the glass shattering it all over my hand. I was at A&E about three times to have the glass removed.

I wouldn't say I love pain, but I'm just an idiot sometimes! Especially with a drink inside me.

Every football injury I've had were almost certainly not my fault, but most cricket injuries are. The nads incident, how many times have you ever been rapped on the box? For me, none, so I went without as it hampers running. Then what happens, one straight into the plums.

Meh, I broke my ankle first time by not wearing shinpads properly at football!

Anyway, less of that, more of the topic in hand :)

That's horrible luck. I remember I had a similarly farcical injury playing football (the Australian variety). I was at training and we were doing a contact drill involving the tackle bags. I didn't really like my coach so I went in for the bump as hard as I could on the tackle bad and ended up doing some serious damage to the shoulder (something to do with the AC joint, according to the Dr). That was only in pre-season though, so luckily I managed to get back and play again later on in they year. Still, it is ridiculous the way some of these injuries occur.
