Stephan El Shaarawy

Postby TRA Dial Square » Tue Apr 10, 2012 11:33 pm

Stephan El Shaarawy's agent has confirmed that Arsenal have shown an interest in the AC Milan starlet, with the 19-year-old poised to go on loan next season.

El Shaarawy is rated as one of the hottest prospects in Italian football, having joined Milan for £10 million in a co-ownership deal with Genoa last summer.

However, despite his blossoming reputation, the fleet-footed forward has struggled to break through at Milan, making just 18 appearances this season, many of which have come from the bench, and has scored just twice.

As such, speculation has been rife that Milan are ready to loan El Shaarawy out for next season in order to get him regular game time, and according to his agent Roberto La Florio, Arsenal are one of those interested.

'Arsenal have always admired him - even before he transferred to Milan, but the Rossoneri have already agreed to his ownership, and I do not know if they'll let him go.'

A final decision on whether the teenager will be allowed to leave the San Siro will come at the end of the current campaign, but speaking last month, El Shaarawy did little to distance himself from rumours linking him with England, suggesting he'd be perfect for the Premier League.

'I really like the English game. Many people always tell me that I have the characteristics to play in the Premier League,' he said.

'Honestly, I like it a lot, both in terms of environment and football.'

Arsenal are known to have watched El Shaarawy in the Italian Cup earlier this season, and again for Italy's Under-21's, but are thought to only be interested in a permanent deal.

El Shaarawy is currently contracted to Milan until 2016.

Actually, it's not just in The Metro. But The Metro is the only one publishing the actual full quotes from the Agent...

The other papers (Mirror etc) are twisting it and quoting him as saying although AFC are interested he won't be moving on, whatsoever and he isn't even considering playing outside of The Rossoneri. When El Shaarawy himself said he'd love to play in the PL.

El Shaarawy on Fifa Ultimate Team is the greatest player I've played with.

Too bad it's nowhere realistic as real life.

Arsene Wenger hints at January bid for AC Milan’s Stephan El Shaarawy

metro.co.uk/2012/12/15/arsene-wenger-hints-at-january-bid-for-ac-milans-stephan-el-shaarawy-3317940/

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has hinted that he might bid for AC Milan sensation Stephan El Shaarawy in the January transfer window. El Shaarawy is currently enjoying a breakthrough season at Milan, scoring 13 goals in his first 16 matches, and Gunners manager Wenger is known to be a huge admirer. When quizzed about El Shaarawy’s sparkling form earlier this week, Wenger couldn’t help but confess his admiration for the 20-year-old, admitting he is a classic Arsenal player. ‘El Shaarawy is a very mobile, very technical young player. His philosophy fits perfectly with mine,’ Wenger told Eurosport. The Frenchman was then quizzed as to whether El Shaarawy may well be a possible transfer target, given the club’s desire to add to their forward options in the new year, and Wenger did little to suggest it was off the agenda. ‘You never know,’ he added. ‘I just say I love the way he plays.’

The comments come in a week when speculation has been rife that Milan may well part with their leading light in a bid to raise extra cash to fund otheri deals. El Shaarawy would likely cost in excess of £20million – which would be a club record fee for Arsenal – although the north Londoners have already revealed there is a significant transfer pot available if Wenger decides to dip into it.

So far...

Serie A: 16 appearances - 13 goals - 1 assist
CL: 6 appearances - 2 goals - 1 assist

Haven't been watching Milan closely the last month or so, but he was the only thing keeping Milan afloat at the start of the season. I can't see them selling them. Not at any price we would offer...

we bought him for 20+ before he even played in the top flight.
There's no selling price after he puts in a half season with 17 goals.

Like him a lot! Already expressed an interest in playing for us a while back to. If Arsenal was to put in a serious bid then who knows. Aren't Milan Italians version of Liverpool now anyway?

Just a question - not flaming, I actually like Arsenal (though Im a Milanista)

What bid are you talking? We paid 20+m for him 1.5yrs ago BEFORE he ever step foot on a serie a pitch.
hes now destroying things left right and centre... so what type of bid are you talking? Berlusconi has even said he's untouchable.. and while he can lie, El Shaarawy was his 'find' and his 'gem'....

He isn't leaving anytime soon, or ever.. He's a Milan fan thru and thru, and we are lucky to have him like you guys are w/ the ox

I understand what you are saying but if Milan fails to make CL and don't look like getting it back for a while, I doubt you would be able to hold on to him if somebody like Chelsea put in a £60m bid.
