sooooooo boring

think the main difference is with club football I can actually watch other (non-Arse) games and give half a shit, with international football it's hard enough for me to give a shit about England never mind anyone else.

If bafana bafana were better I'd watch them.

Not much of a difference for me as I struggle to watch any game that isn't arsenal related unless it's the euros/wc

245 League footballers killed in action in WW1

England and Scotland not allowed to wear poppies because FIFA say its inappropriate

Maybe we should pay them a bribe, I'm sure they'd change their minds then......

Once you let a country wear a symbol then it could get pretty shitty because you can't say no to other countries. I hate FIFA but they're right.

Their rules don't allow commercial, Political or religious symbols

It could be nominally argued that the poppy is political, but in the context it certainly isn't.

A simple change of the rules is required to allow commemorative symbols, if worn within one week of a particular anniversary or day of commemoration.

Consider Mcclean's views on the poppy, I can see why allowing the poppy can be dangerous. What if someone wants to wear a Swastika to honour their dead German soldiers during WW2?

Except the swastika itself is not simply a symbol of Nazism. Anyway it's banned in Germany, France and Austria among others while the poppy is a little flower.

Slightly different...

That symbol is banned so its an irrelevant comparison

In any case it would never be put forward for consideration by the German FA, so again, irrelevant

Maybe the Swastika was a bad comparison, but it's still pretty stupid to think it's not political. Why doesn't the FA just donate to the cause, instead of pulling this stunt?

They are donating in order to use it. Besides, I think it's good that the British FAs have finally had the courage to stand up to the corrupt organisation that is FIFA.

Oh and McClean is a hypocrite anyway.

James McClean has repeatedly said he would wear the poppy if it was solely for WW1 & WW2 but as it's for all conflicts and what Derry went through, he doesn't want to wear it

but anyway, any reason to post this again now his names mentioned

This tbf. All sorts of implications for other countries such as Kosovo/Albania, countries with their own horrific histories all over the world tbf. Internationals should be about representing your country in the hear and now, not honouring the past and inevitably politicising football.

Countries can do that in their own leagues if they want.
